This small but cool looking tower is in the middle of Hoan Kiem Lake. You can walk completely around the lake so you can see the tower from every angle.

...that's about it since you can only look at it from afar, meaning from the edge of the lake. It's certainly pleasant (sans little flying insects) to sit on the benches, focus on this view and mull about things... Better still, buy a 6000 Dong (US 25 cents) sticky ice cream, look at this view and f-e-e-l Hanoi:)

The tower itself is on an inaccessible island, so is not an attraction in itself (other than as something to view). The surrounding park is a nice break from the traffic chaos of Hanoi.

Thap Rua Tower (aka the Turtle Tower) is located in the middle of lake Hoan Kiem, which cannot be accessed. It can be clearly seen from the lakeside, and it's beautiful.

A nice place, very popular and with many tourists but not crowded. Near the lake are some very old trees and a lot of flowers. Also there is an old temple. You can take nice pictures.

This tower is actually a small pagoda, and while it is not accessible to the public, it makes a great photo-op when taking photos of the beautiful lake.

We saw many people taking wedding photos around the lake. This area is very popular amongst the local and tourist. Nice spot for a rest and it's fun to watch what the locals do. There was an out door gym at one spot and it was neat to see. At night time there were people selling knick knacks around the... More

Thap Rua Tower sits in the lake. It is an attraction that will appear in hour photo's but not a site you can visit. The area is beautifully lit at night and looks completely different.

Yes, just like what being shown in the tile, you can't get inside. The tower is located in the middle of Sword Lake (剑湖), and there is no boat, so you can't even get near to it. However, the lake is nice, and very relaxing.

Thank Jeremy C
