After a long stay in the city we decided to travel out to Can Gio ourselves taking the bus, ferry and bus. We were hoping to see some countryside, wildlife and just escape the busy city for a day. Journey was fine, if a little...More

You need to get on board a ferry with other vehicles in order to access can gio. Took the motorboat ride and explored the natural reserves. Traffic is bad during Vietnam holiday.

Me and a friend rode out on bikes, which was interesting in itself. The monkey sanctuary and old war area were quite good; there's even a couple of crocodiles scattered around!

This was a last minute booking but became a lovely day out. Mangrove trekking, bats via canoe, crab fishing, crocodile feeding, a bird forest. There is lots to do and you will be exhausted by the end of it. The part is very no frills...More

We got Buffalo Tours to take us here. English speaking guide was very helpful. It took us 1.5hours from HCM city center to Destination. Since no bridge, we had to take a ferry to do a 10minute river crossing. Our tour started with a small...More

Great value tour $45 from GetYourGuide. 16 people on tour, but we had 25 seat coach, so plenty of space. Our guide, Jay, had only taught himself English 10 months ago, and was great. The coach takes a short ferry to get to monkey island....More

I went to Can Gio with some Vietnamese students by motorbike and it took about 2 hours from the center of Saigon. Monkey Island is totally not worth it! First of all tourists pay double of the entrance fee that the locals pay. Secondly, the...More

It's a nice way to get out of the city. The beaches aren't white sand if that is what you are looking for, but has cheap and fresh local seafood. Plus you get to take your motorbike on a ferry, which is fun.

Hi Carol. I'm sure there are nicer places to see animal life than this one. To be honest, most of us and other visitors (especially children) didn't enjoy the visit, quite the opposite. We were scared of the monkeys as they... More
