Uninteresting place, nothing much to see and almost all descriptions in Vietnamese… Not worth the walk, taxi or Gran (Uber local). Crowed with girls making photo shots in some improbable clothes.

I was bored from begging to end nothing really grabbed me to look around, the building itself was quaint, there were a photo crew there taking wedding pictures.
It was cheap 30 dong to get in so that’s a positive

There's not much to see here to be honest. I wouldn't suggest making a special trip just to go here. It's pretty hot (no AC) and the signage isn't great in English. Go to the art museum instead!

This wasn’t bad, I wouldn’t say it’s a must do as the place is really old & neglected. We thought we can use some aircon time but there was none so be ready for a hot & humid museum visit. There are some old items worth showing the kids, and overall it took is less than an hour to visit the place.

Not to be confused with the History Museum of Ho Chi Minh City, which is more about ancient Vietnamese history, this museum solely focuses on the history of this great city.....Ho Chi Minh City, from its earliest beginnings to the recent wars of independence.....
I preferred this museum to the more graphic war remnants museum, as I learnt more about Vietnam. I never knew how old this city was, thousands of years in various guises, and how it developed from an early portal city to the metropolis it is today.
I liked the focus on specific themes - trade, politics, money, city life, weddings, food - was very interesting. I especially liked the exhibit on money, as someone who collects old coins and money from around the world, I had a good look......but I'm not sure everyone would share my enthusiasm here!
The museum was not packed, and this made it all the more enjoyable as one could really take time to wander around without the hectic crowds you would see in the War Museum, where it can get very busy......this was much more relaxing, and the museum was well ventilated in the hot day with a nice breeze throughout the building.
Yes, this was an enjoyable few hours..........

Go early if you want to avoid queues. Then look out for Hanoi Free tour guides. It's free and highly recommended . We had Ngat our tour guide who spoke English fluently. She was patient and shared insights to Uncle Ho. She made the whole experience great.

when you read all the articles about the Vietnamese war and see all the pics on display something inside you would make you feel for all those people who suffered a lot by seeing their dear ones get killed cause of war and how they had to survive in those severe conditions . lastly you would see all the weapons used in the war. its worth a visit.

It only takes 30k vnd per person to enter here and more 20k if you bring camera. Many angles to shoot here. You can also explore the history of Saigon here with some ancient items.

Nice little museum in a beautiful old building. Some interesting things to see. Easy to walk around as not very busy. Worth a visit. Takes about 1hr to see everything.

The old building is nice and there were couples there taking professional wedding photos. But the exhibits aren’t very informative, especially if you’ve visited other, better museums in Vietnam. In the mildly interesting category: There’s a creepy bunker from 1963. Plus it’s next to a Highlands coffee with good atmosphere.
