If you are interested in the evolution of Vietnamese culture this is a must. The highlights for me were the fine collection of Buddha statues. There are also a number of valuable relics from Angkor Wat which may be of interest if you are travelling on to Cambodia as I was.

The museum was interesting and I spent two hours there. I would like to have watched the water puppet show, there was over one hundred people looking around the museum and most probably did not know the show was available. The two attendants were playing on their phones each time I walked past the theatre. How about someone walking around... More

Unless you are really into history, this is not something that I expect from a History Museum at all

A little way out from city centre. A good overview of Vietnamese history and an interesting adjacent pagoda.

A great display of Vietnamese history and culture displayed throughout this museum. We were in a group with a guide who fully explained all the contents and relevant history of artifax displayed in every room. So interesting and quite extraordinary.

went with my guide, for myself it was very interesting. I was taking pics of some knives in a glass case and the security guard said something to my guide..she told me you can take the pic, which i did and the guy really laid into us. then followed us the rest of the time we were there. I'm thinking... More

Hold onto your cash and just stand next to the free outdoor giant coconut vase and you'll see the most spectacular thing of the whole museum other than that the entire museum is filled with very uninteresting things most of which are replicas. We were hoping to see the free water puppetshow but when we got there they said it... More

Please make sure you know when the opening hours are (it is hard to find the opening hours). I only had 30 minutes to explore before everyone was rounded up and chased out. Albeit the ticket was very cheap. It is very close to the zoo so you should probably visit the zoo too. The displays are very interesting as... More

I have been here a few times. Originally l went on my own, but after that, l took friends that l meet up with , when l visit Saigon. It is a sombre place with disturbing images, and many artefacts. Captured US military armaments, planes ,choppers, etc. Be respectful when you visit. Be prepared for the disturbing displays.

We went to this museum primarily to see the water puppet show. There were only eight people in the audience so the actors refused to perform unless we paid 500.000 dong. I'm not sure what to think about such a practice at a museum but we split the bill with another family and watched the show. Our kids were happy... More
