The royal tombs are an amazing place of any visit to Hue. Lots of history here. My advice to read about it before you get there. The tomb of Gia Long was a highlight of our visit to the Imperial Tombs. We also stopped by...More

Only managed to visit two of a dozen tombs of Nguyễn dynasty spread across significant area such of Hue. Many are far apart. But would recommend making an effort. Consider running motorbikes to make it a more authentic experience.

We can never have enough of the history of Hue. (Being Kiwis, our history is pretty short). Picked up from our hotel, we were taken to the the perfumed river and did a dragon boat trip to this site. On the way the lady of...More

The royal tombs may be a stop on your tour of Hue attractions like the Citadel and Pagoda, as it was for us. Personally I found the intricacies of the tomb adornments to be interesting.

We were met at our hotel by our guide for the day. We were taken to the river where we boarded a Draon Boat and cruised to the Thien Mu Pagoda. After a tour of the Pagoda we were picked up by our maxi taxi,...More

We took an organised tour of the tombs but we should have hired a driver and car for the day so that we could visit for as long as we wanted. We also would have avoided the ridiculous stops at kung fu displays and other...More

I recommend that you hire a taxi for half a day to visit 2 or 3 tombs. There are seven royal tombs. If you wish to visit more than three tombs, you must do this one more time. Over 2 half days you can visit five or six... More
Hi all, How long would you say a visit to Hue would take? Both the citadel and the tombs. I would be arriving to Hue from Hoi An probably around 10 am. Would it be ok to visit during the day, maybe 4-5 hours, and then go (I would be heading to Phong Nha/ Son Trach) or is this just too short to see it ok? Any advice would be welcome, thanks!

How long to spend in Hue? It depends on who you are and what you want to see. Many visitors spend only one day in Hue. For me, this is not enough. We had five days in Hue and we managed to see many places, but there were... More
