It really is just another bridge over the river and was built in 1966. Busy with trucks mainly, the bridge is approx. 700 meter span over the Tonle Sap River. On tour ad pointed out by our guide in passing.

The older one was built by the Japanese, the newer one by the Chineses. in 2017, the Japanese bridge will be closed to all traffic due to long overdue renovation.

Unless of course you like the smell of feaces and stale urine. The stairwells are a disgusting and dmelly mess. Rubbish everywhere. Cambodians should be ashamed of this.

This busy bridge can be crossed on foot. Once you get to the other side, turn to the right and walk along the riverside. Make sure you checkout the Muslim area. Beautiful mosques and temples to be found everywhere.

The view up or down river from the middle of the bridge is OK, though spoiled by that hideous scar on the landscape, the Sokha Hotel on the peninsula. Good for a photo or two, of the fishing boats, of the river etc. Getting up...More

It is a very useful piece of architecture for crossing over water from one piece of land to another. I'm not sure what else there is to say about it. It's not a particularly fantastic bridge although there's no denying it certainly does succeed in...More

Like so many bridges in SE-Asia this one was also constructed with the help of Japanese. We rented bicycles, started at the historical site of the French embassy and onto the huge roundabout, you find yourself on the bridge. There is a sidewalk used by...More
