In terms of Cambodian history, this simple, stand alone monument is important as it reflects the overthrow and thus the end of the Pol Pot regime after its defeat by Vietnam. Thank you, Vietnam! The monument is of a simple design but sits at one...More

Not a spectacular monument, but an important historical symbol for Cambodians marking the end of the Khmer Rouge's murderous control over the country. Having plunged the country into nihilistic chaos, the Khmer Rouge overreached themselves by attacking Vietnam. They were probably trying to distract attention...More

Must-see monument while strolling this lengthy park. Well worth a quick stop to this memorial while exploring the area. Historically important, though not exciting. The park attracts lots of people, curbside vendors, etc, and there's a children's playground nearby.

The monument is ok, nothing special and the area is under the sun with no protection so beware of sunny days.

This is a great thing to see if you are doing a tuk tuk tour or on a bus but it's just a monument on a busy street. It's a bit out of the way, was a long walk from the more central attractions.

There is a lot of history of fighting between these 2 neighbouring countries and genocide and purges on both sides - hopefully this monument signals the start of a period of mutual respect and working together.

The Communist Vietnamese helped the murderous Pol Pot seize power in 1975. Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge then slaughtered 2 million Cambodians and ethnic Vietnamese living in Cambodia. In consequence, Vietnam invaded Cambodia in January 1979, set up a puppet government, and the Khmer...More

Most Cambodians do not like Vietnamese since Vietnam invaded Cambodia. Most people would agree. Hopefully this friendship will last. Moreover, Vietnam has 94 million people and Cambodia has 16 million, Vietnamese come to Cambodia just like Mexicans come to the US for economic benefits (jobs,...More
