Happy visitor of Tokyo Barber Shop
Oct 2020
Since 2016, I am every 4 weeks a happy visitor of Tokyo Barber Shop. Every time I visit TBS, I am very happy to meet the nice staff. If you want a good haircut, manicure/pedicure or massage, go to Tokyo Barber Shop. Wim

Face cleaning

Great 1st-time face cleaning experience! Very relaxed and worth the price. I would recommend this place to foreign travelers.

I think the specialist name was Somenh, and very professional.

Loyal customer no more due to price increase that is not justifiable!!!
Mar 2020
I have been a loyal customer for the past several years and I would get a haircut about every 5-7 days. Since this time, they have increased their pricing twice. It went from $5 to $8 and now to $10. $10 is what is expected to be paid Europe, USA/Canada, Australia or in some first world Asian country in most cases.

There is no benefit to the customer in any way to justify a price increase to $10. I could see paying this if it were somehow justifiable but there is not.

For all those reading this…. There are far better places who offer more reasonably prices haircuts and or offer a true benefit that justify’ s the price they are charging.

As a loyal customer I asked if they would honor special pricing considering how long I have been a customer and how often I get a haircut. They said no and would not honor this. THEY HAVE LOST ME AS A CUSTOMER and I will be sure to mention this to everyone.

You do not know what serious is, let alone what reality is. Our $2 price increase is to cover the costs of the rigorous sanitization and safety standards to protect all of us from Covid-19. Go to our website to watch our Youtube video showing how we keep everyone safe. Our Youtube video only captures 20%-30% of our procedures. We cannot show everything in a 4 minute clip. Your belief that a $10 haircut should only be reserved for expensive countries such as the US, Canada, Australia, & France is delusional. Some Phnom Penh barber shops have already been charging $10 for a haircut as recently as 2019, before anyone heard of the word Covid-19. 7 Barber & Mss is located behind the Royal Palace and Wat Botum area and their $10 haircut price does not include a shampoo. You can look it up on their Facebook About page. Atlantic Spa & Barber in Tuol Kork charges $8 for a haircut and $3.50 for a shampoo. So it’s $11.50 for a haircut and shampoo. Both are local Khmer barber shops serving a local Khmer clientele, not foreign expats. Their prices are pre-Covid-19. There are no Government cleaning regulations & standards for Khmer barber shops, let alone Covid-19 cleaning regulations & standards for Khmer barber shops. You are playing Russian roulette with your life and with the lives of those who come in contact with you. The typical cost of a haircut in the US, Canada, Australia, & France is $25-$35 USD. That is 3 times our cost. These barber shops do not include a shampoo in their haircut price, let alone staying open during the Covid-19 pandemic and instituting safety standards like Tokyo Barber Shop. US($27USD): Floyds Barbershop in Rockville, MD Canada($25USD): Crows Nest Barbershop in Toronto Australia($29USD): The Happy Sailors Barbershop in Sydney France($35USD): Les Garcons Barbiers at Chatelet/Paris What you are really declaring to yourself and everyone else is that you do not believe your life and everyone else’s life is worth anything, let alone $2. Take your deranged belief and act it out somewhere else. Stay away from our shop. You do not know what serious is, let alone what reality is.

FULL FEATURE BARBER SHOP

Had a great experience here with a VIP package including cut, shampoo and massage. They suggested a shave also which was much needed and very much enjoyed. They were very thorough and professional and turned me out a few hours later looking good and relaxed. cost about $60 some USD.

Neat haircut
Mar 2020 • Couples
Neat haircut. Speaks good English. Got my haircut exactly how I told him to. No suggestions made. Followed my instructions clearly. You can show them a photo of how you want your hair cut. Partner did gel removal, manicure and pedicure. The cleaning was thorough and well done. Good job. Overall satisfied.

Money Stolen During Massage
Feb 2020
So.... it feels weird writing a review like this for a place like this. For those not familiar with Phnom Penh this kind of scenario is more often experienced in the city's, um, dens of ill-repute, of which there are many.

I'll cut to the chase. I had a crisp $100 note when I went in to Tokyo Barber for a massage (yes, I did. I saw it the minute before I walked in as I'd decided perhaps it shouldn't be floating around in my pocket during a massage and so folded it between two cards in my card wallet. Please let this dissuade any "are you sure it was there to begin with?" comments. It was.) and it was not there when I went to pay.

This was during a "VIP" treatment as I thought I'd treat myself with a haircut, massage and facial. (NB: no real comment on the actual service here). During the massage and facial my pants were on the ground. I went for a shower during which time my clothes remained upstairs. Ample time and opportunity for someone of a mind to go through my wallet.

I did not want to confront anyone in front of the store's other customers, nor did I necessarily want to outwardly accuse anyone - least of all the wrong person. So I simply implied that I was "missing" $100 and maybe someone "found" it. No one "found" it even though after "searching" together I then suggested the masseuse and her college go and "search" for it themselves without me there, given her or them opportunity to return it without needing to take this further. Nothing came up. I was even asked by the manager if I wanted to search the masseuse myself, which I found a bit offensive after I'd gone to great lengths to protect both dignity and job.

What could I do? I paid and left. Emailed the manager. Got a "this has never happened before" and a "we take this seriously" thing, plus a nice little offer for a free VIP experience. I must admit that in my experience the first response is true though frankly I didn't think I could afford to lose more money, so I declined this generous offer. I felt pretty betrayed - you put yourself at the mercy of people when you take your clothes off and lie in the dark, and this vulnerability was definitely taken advantage of.

So that's why I'm here - what else can I do but write a review and let the power of the internet restore a little justice.

In my 3 years of going to Tokyo Barber this has never happened, then again I've never had a massage here before this day, only haircuts. Regardless this is not the kind of place where you would expect this to happen. There's all manner of cheaper and looser places to get a massage where this sort of stuff is expected - as would be the common retorts of "why did you have that amount of money on you", "why would you leave your clothes unattended" etc etc. Why? Because I trusted the place.

So if you want an OK massage with the possibility of losing cash, Tokyo is your place. Hey, you'll get a concerned response and maybe an offer of a free service.... but you won't get your cash back.

As you well know, you are the first and the only customer to have this experience and complaint in the history of our shop. If we believed we were in error, we would have taken responsibility for it, consistent with other people's experience with us. The offer for the complimentary vip package was a sincere gesture.

Best haircut of my life.
Jan 2020 • Solo
I don’t know this young mans name but he was just amazingly talented. Most importantly he listened. I been in the USA for 50 years and have overpaid for many years on haircuts. This is the best haircut of my life. $8....a little high for Cambodia?? but not really when you consider the quality!! I wish I could get all my haircuts here but I had to come home. I will never forget this place and don’t know how I can ever get a cut back him again. True artists here.

Nice experience
Dec 2019 • Couples
My husband had hair cut and hot towel shave in this place and we loved it. They speak good English unlike most places in Phnom Penh. They are professional at their work and the facility is clean. The hotel towel shave includes relaxing face and shoulder massage so I would recommend if you are in Phnom Penh and need haircut to visit this place. Hair cut for 8$ and the shave is another 8$. Compared to where we come from it’s cheap and very affordable but I heard that in Phnom Penh it would be the most expensive barber. Though they deserve the price
