Really enjoyed the Vipassana meditation sessions offered by the Monks. Well worth trying. It's lovely to spend time chatting with them as they practise their English too.

Even if only vaguely into meditation this is worth the excursion. The English conversation starting at 3 is also recommended, we chatted with some lovely young students. They are very keen to spread the word on the conversation. Not sign posted so as you walk in the long avenue veer off on an angle to the right when you reach... More

We arrived just in time to join the monks for conversation. We sat around in small groups of two or three and chatted with the monks. They really want to learn English so this is the main reason for this time before meditation. The monks started the meditation with chanting which was really beautiful then they gave a short introduction... More

Attended the Saturday meditation which consisted of 20 min seated mediation 20 min walking mediation and another 20 min seated mediation. The meditation is from 4 - 5pm but they have open Q&A with the monks from 3pm if you want to get there early and chat with them. The mediation is free and I really enjoyed being there with... More

I had the hardest time finding the place, but got a great workout from all the I had to do. Lesson learned, show locals the name of the place from the guide book otherwise they think you want the bcyclingig wat automatically. I went specifically for the meditation sessions on Sat afternoons. It was confusing a first since there are... More

As I read, heard and saw, the massage and sauna place that I first visited in 2007, burnt down. What a pity, because it was so special. The rest of the (forest) temple is unchanged. Nice place to get away from all the tourist bustle in the city.

I rode my bicycle there and found a pretty desolate template with no sign of people. Only if I read other folks' comment beforehand, I could have use that time to do something else.

It burns on June 2013 and it doesn't work from july. So it's better you ask at your hotel if they know some typical herbal sauna.

I went to Wat Sok Pa Luang today to go to the sauna and get a massage and I found out that the building where they used to do massages burned down in a fire! They said it burned down a couple weeks ago (the area with the ashes was still smelly) and that for the foreseeable future they will... More

I found this place a little bit of a disappointment maybe because we were not there for the sauna or massage. We just wanted to see this temple. It is quite different from the rest of the temples because of its leafy jungle like compounds which is really huge, compared to those at the main streets. However wherever we walked... More
