Dushanbe is a charming city. Friendly curious people and few tourists. The city has low traffic levels and is very clean. Well kept parks with a profusion of roses.

This park is facing the National Library. The statue of Rudaki faces the main entrance in the distance. The garden is pretty as the flowers were in bloom. There were many local families walking and enjoying their outing.

This square and surrounding gardens and parks are really quite impressive, and give Dushanbe a grandeur that is missing in many other Central Asian capitals (e.g. Bishkek). Lots of security around, so mind your step and don't offend.

Rudaki is, of course, a famous historical figure in Tajik/Persian history. The square is inside the park so you'll naturally see this as part of your visit there. It's a nice photo point and the background arch has beautiful designs on it too.

Quite unkempt compared to the city parks elsewhere in the capitals of Central Asia. There's a showpiece fountain which isn't too impressive, and a statue of Ismail Somoni which is probably the only landmark of note here.

Located close to large flagpole, statue of Somoni, and large park. Lots of flowers and trees there. Lovely views but very hot during the middle of the day. Go early or in late afternoon.

You can see here one of the last mosaiks that was made in Tajikistan. More than 4000000 stones (smalta)in this mosaik were used.
