The place opens early and has some very nice examples of all the handicrafts. Our guide explained the significance of the clothes and caps and later we saw everything from musical instruments to toys, carving etc

This is a very nice museum, with a lot of excellent art work and handicrafts. It's a bit of a hike, but set in a neighbourhood with a lot of quite affluent housing.

Uzbekistan State Museum is one of the best place to review the Uzbekistan culture and history. You will see a lot of beautiful historical artistic piece. It's easy accessible via metro in Tashkent.

The entrance as others have commented is quite stunning especially if Tashkent is your only stop in Uzbekistan. A couple of quite interesting shops as well within the grounds. Some fabulous old carpets, traditional costumes and jewellery.
