If you read Russian or Uzbek you may get more out of a visit as English descriptions are limited or non existent. Not the best organization of displays.

If you find yourself wandering around Independence or Temir Square and have some extra time - or just need a respite from the heat- this makes a decent pit stop. A modest admission price of 10,000 cym (about $1.25) gains you access to what is...More

There are primarily 2 floors. the bottom floor is a routine "through the ages" history of the area from prehistoric times until near to the present. there are exhibits, but nothing to really grab you. the top floor is pretty much just a bunch of...More

Worth visiting to help you string together all the history you've seen so far in the country. The top floor is quite a mishmash of Uzbek pride in their modern accomplishments, what few there are. Skip it if you are short on time.

I rarely visit museums. I am getting bored quite quickly with the unknown faces and facts. I have spent an hour in this museum. I liked part of its display. Unfortunately the top floor was closed.

The history museum is worth the visit, first for the building with a magnificent dome, and second to know something of the history of the country, that enjoyed a great period some 700 - 800 years ago. Allow 1 hour, not more than two to...More
