Before the trip, heard good things about this museum. The museum consists of 3 floors. The real exhibitions are in 2nd and 3rd floors. 2nd floors are ancient Uzbek related artifacts. 3rd floor highlight history and progression of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Budget 1-1.5 hour.

Get a guided tour, cheaper than the entrance fee and good english speaker. She told us many stories and pointed out things we would have missed. Lots of beautiful objects with history, visited on last morning in Uzbekistan.

I visited here for an hour or so which was just about the right time scale. There were some very interesting exhibits which were made more accessible for me because I visited with an Uzbek national. There is some but very little English labelling so...More

Worth a visit for an hour. Well set out in more or less cronological order. A guide is not really necessary

The History Museum of Tashkent is big enough to take some two hours time. Discover all rich history of one of the oldest regions of the world.

If you read Russian or Uzbek you may get more out of a visit as English descriptions are limited or non existent. Not the best organization of displays.

If you find yourself wandering around Independence or Temir Square and have some extra time - or just need a respite from the heat- this makes a decent pit stop. A modest admission price of 10,000 cym (about $1.25) gains you access to what is...More

There are primarily 2 floors. the bottom floor is a routine "through the ages" history of the area from prehistoric times until near to the present. there are exhibits, but nothing to really grab you. the top floor is pretty much just a bunch of...More

A fascinating attraction on two levels. One floor is properly a museum, featuring a sweep of central Asian history from the Sogdians to the Soviets. The other is less a museum than a showcase of Uzbekistan present and future - the "clean, modern, orderly, prosperous" nation...More

Worth visiting to help you string together all the history you've seen so far in the country. The top floor is quite a mishmash of Uzbek pride in their modern accomplishments, what few there are. Skip it if you are short on time.
