We took a trip on the metro just for the experience. It was great. It is definitely the way to get around in Tashkent. The fact that they had such a great system was surprising. Highly recommend it.

The architecture of the metro stations is soviet era and awesome, each a hallway with striking pillars and decorated walls, the cosmonaut station was by far the most beautiful, the trains were mostly clean and ran reasonably efficiently.

The subway is amazing. Every stop is decorated different and very ornate. My favorite stop was Kosmonavtlar, which has a Soviet space program theme.

Check out which of the stations are worth a visit because not all of them are exceptional. If you are caught with a camera takin pictures they'll make you delete them there and then!

The Tashkent Metro was so clean and extremely safe place for people. Every person is checked before going down the metro stations. That made me feel very safe and light.
