I decided to try out this place because I saw a few locals eating here. I tried their Adana kebab and eggplant meze along with the drink Ayran ( which was store bought and poured into a glass). Mezze was a real surprise and I loved it although I am not a great fan of eggplant. It was recommended by... More

It's good experience to be in such restaurant as very convenient. You can chose your meal from the display ( meat , salad, bread and drinks) the staff will cook for you and they will also arrange your table. It's wonderful.

Working lunches at Afiyet Olsun were really lovely, sitting outdoors in a vine covered arbour! The traditional Turkish food was fresh and delicious, and the staff friendly and attentive

It was only me, Alp, a lady cook and a young helper (whose names I'm sorry to say I forgot) at the small but well equipped kitchen at Les Arts Turcs in Sultanahmet. Alp translated and explained the dishes I helped cooking while we also talk about many different topics. Alp's translation was excelent but in spite of language barriers,... More

What better way to experience the Turkish way of life and dimensions than cooking up a family meal! Across from the Opulent Topkapi museum hidden away in the top floors of the Art studio house I met up with Alp my translator and a lovely Turkish female chef. Small, simple kitchen that at first seemed too simple to allow any... More

If you're like me and want to get close to the heart of your destination of choice, this is an opportunity not to be missed! Alp was the perfect host; friendly, easy going and welcoming. Whilst his endearing mother demonstrated how to prepare a multitude of delicious dishes, Alp translated, entertained and shared his knowledge of Istanbul's culture, current affairs... More

My boyfriend Chris and I had a great time with Alp and his mom, who is an experienced home cook and excellent cooking teacher. Alp's English is excellent and he has a great attitude and sense of humor. He was very flexible in helping arrange the time of the cooking class with our ever-changing schedules. We cooked for several hours... More

Had a first time experience of working in a kitchen and that too of the professional kind. Under the able and experienced guidance of the chefs we were able to work on ingredients turning them into a sumptuous three course meal. I never knew cooking could be such a wonderful and satisfying experience. We were served the same dishes later... More

I came across Les Arts Turc while researching for our visit to Turkey in June 2013. They offer many workshops - calligraphy, Turkish language lessons, painting on tiles etc. but what excited me most was their lesson on Turkish cuisine. An extended family of 13 members - ages ranging from 80 to 11 years - decided to go on a... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
