Being the cradle of 12 different civilizations a Turkish archeological museum is expected to be richer. So do not expect much though few examples of articrafts describe the past quite efficiently.

We came here because we bought the museum pass. However, we enjoyed the place. There is detailed explanation about Turkish history in the museum. Moreover, you can see great amount of historical stuff in an air-conditionered rooms.

Considering the long and rich history of Constantinople and Istanbul, the collection is not particularly impressive. May be a lot of the good things were already being moved to museums in other countries. Having said that, still worth a day's visit.

The museum is being renovated. While the museum is worth a visit, it could help travellers by adding a map of the museum, the collections, the rationale used to organize it this way.
