I went on 4 tours run through this agency and used their airport transfers. All were excellent and on time. We did the morning and afternoon walking tours with Ahmet, which gave us a great overview of the historic area of the city. We also did the Golden Horn and Chora church tour. As a history teacher, this was my... More

Yusuf arranged our 14 day tour in Turkey and he did very well in selecting good hotels for us. The only thing we could say about our tour is that we wasted our time on 1 day tour at Ephesus with a leather shop. We wasted at least 1 hour there and missed our opportunity to visit the mosque that... More

I made this trip way back in September 2012, but active on tripadvisor only now. The trip plan covered the culturally rich Istanbul, the wonder of Cappadocia and Pamukkale and the luxurious beach town of Kusadasi. They customized it for our prefernce and arranged for travel and stays very well. The guide arranged for us in Istanbul was very good(dont... More

I recently returned from Turkey after business and pleasure trip, arranged couple of tours through Backpacker Travel Istanbul and highly recommend to other travelers who are looking for personal budget trips in Turkey. Those tours which I had were very informative, enjoyable and easy to understand the motive (history) with professional and knowledgeable guide specially The City Walking tour for... More

Arranged a tour of Pamukkale for my sister and me before arriving Kasidasi. Everything went perfectly from when we were picked up until our return...the guide was exceptionally informed and funny, the meal provided the best so far through any tour group and the van was roomy and comfortable. I had not realized how much those things matter until we... More

We booked a day trip from Istanbul to Ephesus with Backpacker's Travel based on the recommendation from turkeytravelplanner.com and TripAdvisor. The communication was good and nothing went terribly wrong - drivers showed up, transfers were smooth, lunch was good, etc. Our tour guide was nice and did an OK job, although I seriously questioned his decision to actively dissuade tour... I booked a Gallipoli day tour (GAL 3) with this company before leaving for our trip. I pre booked largely so that I could request the company to reserve o/n bus tickets on our behalf. They did this with no fuss and it was a great help. The tour itself was good. Once we finally got there. It was a... More

I went on a 1/2 day trip to Chora that included first a drive to the old city wall with a stop at the Yedikule Fortress, which gives a great view of the Sea of Marmara and a good sense of that edge of the city, and it is quite interesting to hear about it from the guide; then we... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
