I came upon the sign to this museum from the hotel i stayed in Sultanahmet. However you need to take the train to Fatih area next to it. Took a while to find it after getting lost, asking the locals who work in the hotels did not yield results, dont be surprised some locals who live a few blocks away... More

This is a quiet museum that we came upon by accident. If you want to see another side to Turkish culture, and in particular a record of both traditional Turkey and emerging modern Turkey, though this powerful artistic medium, this is a wonderful place to visit.

When stacked up against the gems left to Istanbul by its long history the Istanbul Photography Museum pales into insignificance. So my ranking of only three stars out of five should not be taken as a slight against the photography or the staff or, in fact, anything to do with the museum. But hey, the Blue Mosque and the Aya... We really only went here to get out of the rain but it turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip. The photographs on display in the two galleries dedicated to Turkish artists were excellent but what really made the visit worthwhile was the selection of books available to browse through - many of which gave a... The museum features stunning photos of different styles from respected Turkish photographers. It is in a nice area close to the main tourist streets but with hardly a tourist in sight. Cheap chai and a nice park outside so it makes a nice stop away from the crowds up the hill.

It was a little tricky to find but once I did, I enjoyed it completely. It was quiet and relaxed and I could move around at my own pace, soaking in thousands of photos taken of Istanbul and Turkey by Turkish photographers. There was so much history in the collection and so much skill in the shots that I left... More

This museum is in Fatih, 20 minutes walk from the Blue Mosque and out of the tourist tracks. It is not a big place but totally worth the walk and the time: it both showcases amazing Turkish photographers and hosts exhibitions. At the moment the main room is devoted to Stephane Herbert- you do not need to ba a phohtographer... More

I went there after checking the reviews on trip advisor and I must say this place is awesome. They not only have great photographs but the background music creates a great atmosphere. Also, unlike other places in Istanbul, it's very cheap. The adult ticket is 3tl but as a student I spent only 1tl
