The Istandbul Modern is set at the water front at the edge of the trendy Karaköy neighborhood. Interesting exhibitions and also fun with kids (as most contemporary art is). The café on is also worth a visit - expecially for the views.

Opened in 2004, Istanbul Modern occupies an 86,000-square-foot former factory building at the edge of Istanbul's buzzy Karakoy neighborhood. Permanent and temporary exhibitions from Turkish and international contemporary artists, a photography gallery, new-media gallery, library, and cinema make the Modern an easy spot to spend...More

installations are uncaptivating but some painters make you look at their work and enjoy it. Of course exhibits change frequently, so my impression is irrelevant. Great vista deck and cafeteria, the art is not smashing, but enjoyable for the most part. lots of security, cameras...More

Easily accessible via the tram, the lesser visited Modern Art is one of my favorite museums in Istanbul. Upon approaching the entrance, a security guard escorted me to the proper entrance, which alone was inspirational--before the ticket area is the museum library decorated creatively with...More

This museum offers a wide variety of artistic expressions, from performances to installations, Istanbul Modern never disappoints. A coffee or lunch at their restaurant facing the Bosphorus is always a nice way to end your visit.

My wife and I visited The Modern 2 years ago during our anniversary trip to Turkey. We didn't plan to visit the museum, but we were in the area and so a visit was warranted. What actually attracted us to it was that it was...More

Sitting pretty with an age-old air about it, Karakoy
is situated on the European side of the Bosphorus at
the mouth of the Golden Horn. Perhaps the city’s most
historically significant area, it’s currently one of
the most happening parts of town as well. Here street
vendors and alfresco fish restaurants line the banks
of the Horn where the views of major attractions
across the water rival Karakoy’s own key attractions,
