Overview

It is believed that seven young Christians, who refused to sacrifice animals for the Roman imperials, took shelter in this cave near the city. They fell asleep only to wake 200 years later to find that Christianity had become more accepted. The event lead many to accept Christ's belief of resurrection.

For Christian and Muslim travelers the sight holds significant importance . The sight is difficult to visit for those in a wheelchair and with disabilities. It is very clear close to the Ruins of Ancient Ephesus . Visiting is free and there is a quaint...More

You can see from the beginning that there is not much care put into reserving the place. Even there were a lot of people visiting and littering the area, nobody bother to do anything except handmade warning and begging signs. Place is nice, but depressing.

Interesting story. Nearby Mary House, worth the time for a short visit. This is a beautiful region of Turkey.

An old site of legend and burial. A bit of a climb up to explore. Near Ephesus and there are horse and cart rides between.

You will see this on the walk through Ephesus. Many different places to see on this 1.5 mile walk through the ancient town. It's a must see when visiting Kusadasi.

The climb to the grotto is long but not so difficult. Once there you can see the cave and the relics left around. Whether you believe the story is up to you.

All you can do is look in a cave and then down on some ruins through a fence. The tale is the most interesting part.

this place is a victim of poor administration. little information, little access, reaching the grotto is difficult. Still it's really close to Ephesus and Mother Mary's House and worth a visit.
