Mount Zion is a hill just outside of the walls of the Old City. Mount Zion has an ancient history, it is mentioned several times in the Hebrew Bible as part of the City of David. It believed that at the End of Days the Messiah will enter from Mount Zion, through the Zion Gate. Many interesting features are connected to Mount Zion and the Zion Gate, including King David's Tomb and the Cenacle, also known as the Upper Room, site of the Last Supper. The terminology "Zionist" is derived from Mount Zion.

This is an interesting area with structures hundreds of years old, and with the Tomb of King David and the Upper Room (Last Supper Room) available to visit. Would definitely recommend a visit here for an hour or two, if you have time!

This is an area with a number of important religious and historic buildings from the time of Christ and also the Crusaders. The Room of the Last Supper and King David's tomb are available to visit. It is an area where you could spend a morning but the authenticity of some of the artefacts is debatable.

There is a lot to see in Jerusalem and therefore it is difficult to o’clock everything in. Whilst this is not a must see this is certainly worth a visit if you have the time. It also allows good views of the city.
As ever understanding the history /story behind this site adds to the enjoyment.

Mt Zion is now outside of the Jerusalem's city walls. It is a complex area, with a lot of history. The area is the site of King David's Tomb and the site of the Last Supper, where Jesus shared the Passover meal with is disciples, shortly before he was crucified. This was the irst Eucharist. It also contains a Sephardic synagogue, established in 1948 during Israel's War of Independence. The area abounds in antique Gothic architecture, dating from th Crusader perod.

We reached Mt. Zion on the 4th day of our pilgrimage. There's an ambiguity on the historical significance of this sacred hills as far Judaism and Christianity are concerned. But fact is, it played a crucial role in shaping the final days of Christ even His mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Early this year, while on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, our tour guide took all forty-nine
of us to Mount Zion. It was the first pilgrimage to the Holy Land for each of us. We visited the Upper Room. This is the room where Jesus and His disciples celebrated the Last Supper. After His death, He appeared to His disciples here. While at Mount Zion, we also visited Benedictine Church of the Dormition.

Here you could visit a few interesting sites the most interesting of which is the Room of the Last Supper. Our guide explained to us that the actual room is not the entire large room on display presently but rather just the section between the pillar and the staircase wall amounting to about 1/3 the size of the whole room. Several photographic walls and nooks inside the room were actually later day additions with the most interesting spot for a photo (a fireplace-like place in the room) is actually a Muslim addition. Other attractions include the Tomb of David, directly below the Room of the Last Supper and the crypt of Dormition Abbey, which displays a resting statue of Mary. Like many of the other sites in Jerusalem, get yourself a good knowledgeable guide to provide historical stories of what is being viewed for better enjoyment...

The complex of Mount Zion is one of the most visually eye-catching from the distance in Jerusalem. It is also among the most interesting, comprising of the Tomb of King David, the Room of the Last Supper, and the church and the crypt of Dormition Abbey as the main components.
