Great place to browse, fresh fruits, nuts, flowers, spices. A sense of a cross section of Israel at if you like falafel the store sons of Levi at the uphill end has the best falafel I have had. Fresh as I am not the only one that likes their food, entertaining and delicious

Fun shopping area to walk thru. Lots of small shops offering a variety of goods/foods. Haggling is expected in most places.

Omg if you are in Jerusalem this is a must do. What a variety of spices, meats, restaurants, etc etc. This was an education and best market by far.

We had a taste tour of the Macheneh Yehudah Market. In addition to getting an historical review of the market and the various cultural groups that comprise the stall keepers, bakeries, spice shops and restaurants, we were able to taste different foods from the varied cultures (Yemenite, Moroccan, Iraqi, Kurdish and Syrian were some of the cultures). We really enjoy markets and try to visit at least one in every country we go. Mahane Yehuda is great! Clean, colorful and vibrant. Vendors are friendly and we tried samples of all kinds of food. Please buy some halva there - sweet made of tahini. Delicious! They also have a synagogue in the market which we thought was interesting.... More

Yes, all the stands and shops will be closed but this is a great time to explore the beautiful murals that have been painted on all the security gates. They are really something to see-Gandhi, Spielberg, Golda Meir, Einstein and... More

Took a taxi to the market. It was huge and filled with the locals buying everything that they needed. We love to walk through markets and this one did not let us down.
