To see the Dome on the Rock in the best possible way, go there as early as possible to beat the bus groups. Once they arrive, chaos ensues and it is difficult to get photos without tons of tourists blocking your view finder. If you are not Muslim, forget about going inside the mosque. But the complex surrounding it has... More

Never carry a Bible when touring this site. Be prepared for some rudeness but generally safe. May or may not be able to enter the dome.

If you go as a Christian, you can walk around and look at the outside of the buildings; if you are a Muslim tourist, I think you can go inside the Dome of the Rock. They will test you for entry, I think they ask you to recite the first few verses of the Koran. The architecture is gorgeous. Don't... More

I gather from reading other reviews that there is an entrance where non Muslims are permitted to enter. Our tour didn't go by that entrance and we were already covering a lot of ground so I didn't think to ask for an alternative entrance. However, it would have been nice to have a little closer of a view than just... More

Its accessible through the bridge at the western wall square, there are certain times of the day when you can visit, take an ID, because you might be asked and avoid tablets, because it will have to be stored at the check point. Its really worth a visit, to have a close view of the Mosques and its amazing architecture.

A very historic location, but it took a long time to get through the line and the metal detector. Really beautiful view

It is a very beautiful structure from the outside and from afar. It is a shame that non muslims are not allowed to enter inside. I was half tempted to say I am a muslim to see whether they would let me. The guards are also very aggressive in shooing out people just before closing time. What a shame!

Impressive and beautiful. No entrance for non-muslims. The surrroundings and the views are marvellous. You only can enter the place through a pasport control at the western wall where a wooden bridge leads you to the heigt.

Getting to the Dome of the Rock is the hard part. There are long lines and security can be both difficult and arbitrary. Non Muslims cannot enter the Dome of the Rock mosque, but the grounds are lovely and there are fabulous views of the Mount of Olives and Old Jerusalem. Important hints -- i) take your camera; ii) DO... More

Take your time if possible to look at all the details, as there are many from the windows to the tile work, to the arabic script to the beautiful ceilings. Such a sacred space. If you are Muslim, stop by the gift shop just before you enter the area and buy a koran which you can inscribe and leave for... More
