Seriously old Roman Road a highlight

The mosaics in Madaba are excellent, but you already know that. The highlight for us was a first century Roman Road. You can seriously imagine walking down it.

World-class collection of mosaics, well-displayed and explained. As with St George church, a must when visiting Madaba.

Madaba has so many sites with wonderful mosaics and historical remains. (Many visitors just visit the mosaic map in St George's and miss so much more). This museum/archaeological park is well worth a visit.

I've visited Madaba twice now and spent an interesting hour or so there both times. If you don't have much time in Jordan then you won't be missing out by not visiting and really, it's only worth visiting if you're passing by on your way to the Dead Sea, Petra or Wadi Rum. But even though there's not enough to... More

We almost skipped the Madaba Archaeological Park during our recent trip to Jordan- we are so glad we didn't miss it! The fee is nominal for what you are able to see. The size and quality of the floor mosaic in particular is truly incredible. Pictures don't do this place justice!

This site is interesting. It has the virgin mary church build on the top of roman monastery. Roman colomns are inside the church and some of the colomns are outside which were collapsed during an old earthquake. The church floor has a very nice mosaics dated 1400 years. The guide sprayed it with water to revive the true colors. All... More

Think you have to have a serious interest in archeology and Mosaic works. I'm not overly excited by these items so have now seen enough. Still a good site and part of Jordon Pass.

Great visit to see the historical mosaics of Madaba. We had a 45 min guided tour which I would highly recommend as it brings so much more meaning to the history you're seeing. The tour guide also took us to a local shop where they made many different mosaic pieces of varying size and design in support of the archaeological... More

After the bustle of St George's church, we had the Archaeological Park almost to ourselves. It's in two parts, the main one next door to the Mosaic School and another one hidden behind a souvenir shop in neighbouring Al Amir Hassan street (look out for a sign saying entrance to the Burned Palace or Church of the Martyrs and ask... Worth dropping in if you are in the town and is free with the Jordan pass. Good for the history and archaeology enthusiasts but a nice little explore for the kids too.
