Our hotel was Arumaila, one of the boutique hotels in the middle of Souq Waqif. It was a wonderful place to spend hours wandering around the small alleys. There is everything to buy from fabrics, pots and pans, nuts and sweets, souveniers, arts, jewellery, baskets, galabeyas, etc. etc. It took us a while to figure out the men with wheelbarrows... I thought the Souq Waqif was an interesting place to visit. I'm not sure but I don't think it's all that old and looks like it's designed to cater to visitors rather than locals. There are lots of things to see and you could easily come back to see more. A large area selling birds, caged dogs, cats, rabbits etc........ More

I love nothing better than wondering around the souk by myself, getting lost in the alleyways and taking it all in. I enjoy observing the locals going about their business and the tourists haggling for a deal. Lots of places to catch up with friends or just sit and people watch.

It is the one of most rich culture place... a nice park, lot of good stuff, from souvenirs to house displays, even pets are there too, plus sisha (ofcourse). Worth the visit and to roam around. Good view and love the classic design of buildings.... Moreover, it surprises me much of wooden cased atm machine. Definitely will never get bored... More

If you venture into the nooks and crannies of Souq Waqif you will be delighted by the fascinating vendors displaying old relics and artifacts of a bygone era. Qatar's pearling and Bedouin past is preserved in old dows. fishing nets and Bedouin cushions and carpets. The aroma of coffee and spices waft though the old style market and if you... More
