- Bozeman-DublinTrim, Ireland11,261 contributionsLovely Place, Really Well DesignedKatara is well worth a visit. Its a little bit "too perfect" to be authentic but nonetheless they've done a lovely job with the place making it into a Skansen-style outdoor museum, if you get me? The birdhouses are amazing. There's a beatiful Mosque that's well worth a visit and the crowning jewel in many ways, the huge amphitheatre, is just stunning. The acoustics are incredible. It's on the metro line, well worth a visit.Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 9 November 2023
- KomatorBarcelona, Spain896 contributionsInterestingWe made a stop at the Katara Cultural Village during the Discover Qatar tour. It's a cultural 'city' with some shops, an amphitheater where concerts are held, and restaurants. In my opinion, it still looks too modern, lacking people and a lively atmosphere, but it has its charm. I suppose when temperatures drop, it becomes a pleasant place to stroll with some life.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 November 2023
- LolaGo1Washington DC, District of Columbia6,634 contributionsLots to see and do here! There is a beach area next to the Children’s Playground. Also located here are 2 mosques that tourists can visit, restaurants, mall, etc. What attracted me here are some new buildings that seemed to look like European historical buildings. Note that there are free electric cars that one can ride to the Gree Moque.Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 13 November 2023

Meeting point is not signposted and people there and taxi driver also didn’t know it. So no tour guide but I did it on my own and thoroughly enjoyed discovering it by myself. Had lovely lunch at the seafood restaurant by the sea which wasn’t in the your anyway. Lovely village to explore. I travelled to and from by taxi from Doha.Visited September 2023Travelled soloWritten 2 December 2023

- VickiLondon, United Kingdom672 contributionsIconic Village!Interesting place to visit. There is a huge Galeries Lafayette store and when you go into the courtyard, you get to explore the village with different exhibitions centres, art galleries, museums e.g. Arab postal stamps and a huge impressive amphitheatre. There is a gold mosque and the beautiful Katara mosque with 2 pigeon towers next to it. There is a promenade alongside the beach where you can stroll and watch the fishing boats or watch Qataris at work - weaving baskets & rugs, making ceramic vases etc. There are places to eat if you are hungry and you can also buy souvenirs as well.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 23 December 2023

Set over a large area with water running along the gutters giving a cooling effect, the centre is quite amazing. There is a cinema at this complex also. Visit the Mosque and Maid too.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 December 2023

While Doha is a city that strives to take itself into the future, I actually found its most endearing attraction the unusually quaint and tradition based Katara Cultural Village.
While there are genuine Souqs still in operation giving Doha a genuine and traditional flavour I felt the bigger cities in the UAE lacked, I was especially taken with Katara, which is a genuinely focused attempt at giving a picture at traditional Qatari culture.
A small, artificial ‘village’ Katara boasts a variety of cafes, an open air theatre, outdoor markets and buildings designed in the traditional Qatari fashion.
When I visited it was a scorching afternoon and there were several people enjoying the beach section, which offers various small time water sports. This did mean that there wasn’t a lot on in the way of performances or outdoor activities. This meant I didn’t get to see it at its best, but I did enjoy a wander around it’s quaint ‘streets’.
The other downside to my visit was that at the time it could only be reached by car. I do believe that a metro station will soon be active there making it a great deal more accessible to those staying in Doha centre.
As such it’s a weird feeling I have towards Katara. I enjoyed my visit even though there wasn’t much going on, but am aware that it can be better. If in Doha I’d definitely recommend checking it out.

This is a very good place to visit when in Doha. I visited this place several times during my stay. During daytime it seems little bit calm, some of the shops are closed but as the sun goes down, it becomes busy and vibrant. There are good places to walk around, you can attend concerts, or choose from around 20 restaurants that offer really good food. Totally recommended.

The outdoor area with all the shops and food places makes this walkable area a must see. The outdoor amphitheater is itself a unique almost greek amphitheater insertions into this UAE site. I loved it!

There’s lots to do and see, not to forget there’s a beach. Beautiful architectural showcase here. It’s new and clean and has free shuttle by way of golf carts. But some of these drivers can be lazy, when I asked one to take me back to the station he pointed the directions to me and. I told him, I’m tired now that’s why I want to avail the free ride! So cheeky. I used the shuttle 3 times because I was short of time and didn’t wanna lose time by getting lost. None of the drivers were friendly or helpful. Use them anyway, it is their job and lots of them, hopefully you’ll get the nice driver. Very convenient right next to the metro station (katara on red line). I came here on a Sunday just after midday, and it was almost deserted, so I had the place to myself and took endless photos.

There is some nice street art and plenty of good restaurants here. They have a nice amphitheatre with a good view of the ocean so I'm hoping to get here for a concert at one point as well.
We went here for a nice sit down restaurant for dinner and ended up walking around for a couple of hours. There are lots of food choices including desserts and refreshment options. The Tasty Street area is relatively inexpensive and I hope it closes to drive through traffic because it is so narrow, walkable and there are very few places to sit and enjoy your food outside.
I'm looking forward to more weekend adventures out here. It is a 6 minute walk from Katara station but there is a good boardwalk along Katara Beach if you want to use Al Qasar station.

Katara Cultural Village is the hot spot for events, social gatherings, and of course shopping on the side :)...It is right around the corner from the Pearl. Katara is the historical name for Qatar and the events are everything but historical. There is an open amphitheater which overlooks on one side the beach, a multipurpose cinema, a conference, and a museum for maritime heritage. Exhibits can be anything from falcons to art, performances can be classical music or opera. You can explore the stars at the planetarium after spending the day at the beach, and hop into Galeries Lafayette for a nice shopping spree. The walkways leading to Galeries Lafayette are air conditioned. Art is on public display and gives the Cultural Village a nice modern touch.

Loved this - the mosque is stunning, the pigeon pots are interesting and there is so much to see as you wander around. Lovely ampitheatre area and had a lovely experience here when a gentleman out with his family got up on the centre and started singing an aria - wow!!
For those of you wanting to shop there is a lovely looking area to the side of here but we didn't go in. There is also a lovely park area on the mound opposite. Doha does seem very family friendly - lots of parks everywhere.

Whilst this was interesting it was very quiet while we were there and there didn’t seem to be much going on or there to see. The beach was lovely. There is a posh shopping centre. Nice to walk around but if you don’t have time to visit I don’t think you are missing out. The one good thing is that there is a free shuttle from the metro station to the village and back again on golf buggies.

August was hot & there were buggies to transport us, but not much was open There was a nice photographic exhibition, a bit of art work, some pottery. Nice amphitheatre & good sea dude views, but too hot during the day. Unless going to a specific event I would not visit. This cultural village is inferior to the three outstanding museums in the Souk Waqif district: the recently opened architectural jewel of the National Museum; the fabulous & wonderfully sited Museum of Islamic Culture; & the Msheireb Museum (Radwani Jouse & Company House, etc).

Katara is a centre of Qatari arts and culture with lots of new additions ...art installations, cafes and restaurants ..and helpfully more underground parking. The whole village is really well done with the added new high end shopping village, extended parkland and of course yet more cafes. The beach is still unchanged with lots of activities, albeit all temporarily closed due to Covid restrictions at time of visit. A must see part of a visit to Qatar or a revisit if you are a resident to see the new elements.

Hi, Kia_Si. What would you like to know about this attraction?
Yes, Kitara Cultural Village is a ghost town during Ramadan. I was the only visitor in the morning and have difficulty getting a cab out of it since no one came in. Left stranded and end up walking out 1.5km at 45 degrees Celsius without water to Inter Continental Hotel. Better leave this place out during Ramandan.
Written 9 June 2017
Sorry to hear that but in Ramdan all the restaurants are closed during the day and every one knows that.
But katara has alot of offices, institutions and centers.
If you go inside any of the buildings you will find many people who will help you because of course no one will be out door in hot weather and fasting!
Also there is katara gym which im a member in it, and its open during the day in ramadan!
So i think you just wanna complain 🤫
