a very interesting experience, probably needs to be upgraded to be more user friendly. The guides are wonderful and have an extreme amount of knowledge

Gave you an insight into Island life before the 'west came'. Lots of artifacts and good explanation of the life style

We visited the beautiful musuem on my request - much to my husband's displeasure who can't stand anything remotely artistic or historic! We were both so happy with what we found here. It is not a large musuem, i dont think Vanuatu is overindulgent as a rule so i wasn't expecting grandeur in any sense. This gorgeous dedication to Vanuatu's... More

The National Museum is very small and rather dated. There are lots of cabinets with traditional costumes and natural history specimens that look their age. The demonstration by the staff of the traditional sand drawings was fascinating to watch. The symmetry and intricacy of the symbols is incredible, especially when they are passed on from person to person.

We visited the cultural centre on a quiet Saturday morning. We opted for the guide/sand drawing option (VT1500 per head) and it was well worth it. Edgar was our guide, and you can tell that he loves his country and culture. He did two sand drawings for us, one of men making masks and another of a kastom heart. He... More

It's hidden away in a non touristic area - but it's so beautifully done, and the local Ni Van staff have wonderful touching stories to tell. Don't miss the stories.

We visited in Jan 2017. Sadly a lot of exhibits are aged, but you still gain invaluable knowledge. Edward was the absolute best, telling stories, history and demonstrating sand drawing. His musical talents are absolutely fantastic. Well worth the visit.

Loved the sandroing and musical instrument demonstration at the beginning of the tour however, I would recommend doing this tour without a guide if you don't speak amazing French. I struggled to keep up with the language at times and therefore zoned out. However, a fantastic way to learn more about Vanuatu history and culture.
