Arrived in the afternoon. Was surprised at how big the lake was ! Took a speedboat ride thru the tranquail lake. Bought s. ome packets of bird food thought that we will stop the speed boat to feed the birds. Was very impressed by the flight of the seagulls in formation where they will swoop down to 'catch' the crumbs... More

I recommend to join with another tourist for booking boat tour. It is about 12 dollars per boat with 5-6 person capacity. we can get information from hotel where we stay. The lake is look great during August till December due to after ending rainy season. first visit is people with dancing on boat to capture fish with shan traditional... More

This was such an interesting place to visit. I worry about its future environmentally. The lifestyle of people living on the lake is truly remarkable. We booked directly with a book driver at the lake - he was fantastic - respectable and thoughtful. He is Aung Tun 09 250628475 - get a hotel to call him or just look for... More

Really interesting place and great to be out on the boat exploring but you can see that this area is already becoming very touristic. If you take a boat trip (which everyone does) then you are going to have a mixture of cruising along the lake interspersed with visits to the local handicraft places... umbrella weaving, gold and silver, textiles... I went for a 3D2N trek with Ever Smile Trekking from Kalaw to Inle Lake in December 2016. The trek takes you through some of the amazing lands in the country - from the cool rainforest-ish walks, the vast fields of flowers and crops, through some unique and untouched villages and lastly, a boat ride to Inle Lake ... this... good. we stayed a week in the landlocked town of Nyaung Shwe because it was significantly more affordable than staying on the lake, and took private boats which were very cheap for day transport around the lake. Well worth a 4-5 day stay, no longer necessary. You may rent mountain bikes in town as well and tour the mountain side... More

We had not altogether understood it was a boat trip, yes I know it’s called Inle Lake and yes the descriptor is of a floating market, what can I say we were all exhausted. So we followed our driver hoping for a warm car not an open air tuk tuk and got a long narrow boat instead. By this point... More

We had such a fun day going around Inle Lake with our boat driver. Yes it is very touristy and you get to visit the touristy shops, but the locals are only trying to make a living and some of the stops are very interesting. Seeing the every day life of the way people live on the lake is great,... More

A beautiful area, full of locals and full of tourists. Life has not changed on this lake for hundreds of years until the last 5 years or so. The tourism needs some controlling or it will spoil the area. That said there are some amazing sights to see, fishing, gardening, shopping. Also some traditional workshops demonstrating silk weaving, lotus flower... More
