The novelty of seeing animals kept in captivity is not for me. These poor elephants are tied and unable to move much. Cannot see the point of wanting to do this to any animal for show and to make money!

If you want to see your first white elephant, you can visit this place. However, be forewarned that it is not gleaming white, as a friend who's a local and I were arguing about. I defended the elephants; he said they were brown. To be...More

Not so great honestly. Three elephants kept in captivity chained down to pillars is not a great tourist attraction for me. If you don't get to see it don't worry you haven't missed much. You will end up feeling bad for these animals after going...More

It was good to be able to see the endangered white elephants, but it was hard to see them chained up all day. They are released after the public viewing times. A quick visit to see the paler colour.

There's nothing special about this place. Just a different skin color of these elephants is no reason to queue up here. On the contrary, many may feel sad for the way the animals have been chained up. This place can certainly be skipped.

I was almost reduced to tears to see this disgusting treatment of animals . The two elephants are tethered to tiny chains and were constantly using their trunk and other feet to remove them. I urge all tourists when asked if they want to visit...More

I have never seen white elephants before so was fascinated by them, they are a strange colour and very rare so would recommend just a quick visit. There's no entry fee, you can just walk in. My only concern was the fact that they were...More

Close to the Kyauk Taw Gyi Pagoda (Marble Buddha) the white and pink elephants are displayed in a covered area, chained to the ground. Although highly significant to the people of Myanmar and we are respectful of this, it is difficult seeing such magnificant creatures...More

Great for a quick stop to see these 2 white elephants. Never seen such a color elephant before in my life so it's worth seeing such rare animals. We were not very happy to see the elephants chained, but when we asked about it, they...More

There are Two White Elephants in Yangon!!!!
How can you call this a sanctuary? They are chained and swaying constantly. Sanctuary means a place of protection and living naturally in the wild. Neither of these is happening. Why do you chain them and force them to stand all day? It isn't good for their health and tourists are very angry.

Where did you see the elephants in the city. Trip Advisor shows one place on the map but that is the Royal White Elephant hotel near Inya Lake. I would like to go but I cant imagine they are located at that hotel.

Please don't go to this place. The animals are kept in a terribly cruel way . You will be upset and hopefully by boycotting the place something may change
