Even after knowing how this architectural marvel came about, the actual sight still renders you speechless.

I witnessed today one of the best churches i have ever seen. Immensely huge and reflecting the faith of the people of Cote D'Ivoire. You have to visit the cathedral to witness the greatness

On a day trip to Yamoussoukro from Abidjan with colleagues, we did the guided tour of the Basilica. It's a replica of St Peter's in Rome, but slightly taller! (St Peter's only keeps the name of biggest church in the world because it has more chapels) It's well worth spending the two hours and two euros it takes to do... More

This church (one of the largest in the world) is truly impressive. We had an excellent tour guide who knew the building from top to bottom as well as the best photo spots. It's a beautiful structure with replicas of famous sculptures with an Ivorian touch. Made the day trip to Yamoussoukro from Abidjan worth it. Afterwards, head to the... More

We had a full day to spend in Abidjan so we had our hotel (we used the Sofitel) arrange for a car and driver. It was not cheap.....a bit less than 2x the taxi rate, but we had him for the day.....although there were a couple times when he kept calling his boss to see if he could take us... More

I got a chance to visit the Bassilica in Yamoussoukro this year. From far, you may not think it carries a lot of details and intricacies on catholic faith. The outside lawns are well kept and the Gardening is meticulous. The cost of visiting is cfa. 2000 for non national and cfa. 1000 for locals. The english speaking guide i... More

Controversial yes but a great testimony to Papa Houphouet's faith as well as a valuable legacy for Ivory coast. A must see in Africa!

While not of the Catholic faith, I was awestruck by this incredible place. Frankly, it is impossible to visit without feeling a sense of awe. Every inch is a work of art, and the sheer majesty of the place is somewhat overwhelming. An absolute architectural masterpiece, not to be missed.

From outside I did not think too much of this Basilica, but after having a tour inside with an excellent guide, I was blown off my feet how extremely beautiful and historically important this building was. I do not know if one can visit this basilica without a guide, but do make sure you go with one to hear the... More
