This is another of your perfectly perched Georgian orthodox churches erected many centuries ago, and this one has an special history as it was witness of the massacre of tens of thousands of Georgians because they didn't want to negate their faith.

The spritual entry and the church was amazing, the location is a little hard to arrive but worth every step

I enjoyed the walk from Tsminda Sameba Cathedral to Metekhi Cathedral, but I don't have any particular memories of this church (they tend to blur after awhile) except for the many and persistent beggars outside. It has good views. Some people have obviously reviewed the...More

The Metekhi church is a cross-cupola church. Metekhi church is somewhat anachronistic with its three projecting apses in the east facade and the four freestanding pillars supporting the cupola within.

Both the church and the statue overlooking the river and the city. We visited the place at night and yellowish lightenings doubled the attraction of the location.

Located right next to the river, this is the best place from where you can watch the city from close up. Free to visit, this is one of the best places where you can unpack your lunch box and eat or just take some pictures...More

This seems to be a famous cathedral in the old town area. We visited on Palm Sunday and it was very crowded with worshippers. Women must have their heads covered to enter any of the Orthodox churches.

For those that see the first time a goergian church - great to see and experience it. When you have seen the world heritage sites then it is esp. a great viewing Platform for taking Pictures of Tbilissi.

This Cathedral is about a 45 minute drive from Tbilisi and definitely worth it! The Cathedral is near a body of water make the views spectacular! Be careful when walking from the car park down to the entrance and the path can be slippery. Make...More

This site is well worth the trip up from the city and the short walk to the top of the hill. The Cathedral itself is much like many others, but it extremely well maintained. However the view is one that should not be missed. The...More
