About
Built on a 262 meter peak in Namsan Park, the tower reaches to 480 meters above sea level. When the weather and pollution levels cooperate, visiting the observation tower (370 meters above sea level) allows you to view the entire city and surrounding areas.

We didn’t do a tour, we found a Seoul pass that allowed one free entry to the Seoul tower and free cable car. You can find the cable car without a taxi but takes a bit of brain work from the Google map. That or get the red bus available until about 4pm. Views and gift in tower amazing. Merch and convenience store on ground level and some lovely flower borders.

When we went on a Sunday afternoon we were able to get on the cable car up to the tower but, once there, the queue for getting to the top of the tower was going to take another 3 hrs and we decided it wasn't worth the effort. Instead we enjoyed exploring the plaza area around the tower which took us about an hour to go along the old fortification walls and seeing the various displays. Locks are everywhere. The views from the plaza were excellent and we could see much of Seoul and how big it is and I don't regret we didn't get up the tower.

One of our party decided against taking the cable car ride back down and easily walked his way down. That being said, the views going back down the cable car appeared to be better than the views going up so I am not sad that I took it back.

We just rode the cable car up to the base of the tower. There was a free cultural show going on. Views were great. Not too crowded. We didn’t bring a lock…but that’s a thing here for couples. I thought it was worth the time and effort. I’m not much of a walker, and there was elevator assistance from one of the parking lots.

If you choose to hike it you can; however, you can also access it via a cable car. The cable car takes you to the base of the tower where you then purchase an additional ticket for the elevator for the tower. There can be a wait for the elevator but there are a few small shops and a café while you wait. Even the views from the base of the tower are impressive.

I'm really fond of viewpoints and can call myself a view freak, as I climbed almost every tower and viewpoint in every city I've visited on all continents.
However, I cannot say I was thrilled with the N Seoul tower.
Deciding if to climb the N Seoul tower or the Lotte world tower I chose the first one as it's in the very center of Seoul, while Lotte is far away.
Before reaching the top you have to queue 3 long lines.
First, is the funicular (free) which takes you from the street level to the cable car station. We waited 4 turns to board it.
At the cable car station we waited 3 turns to get on, and it takes you to the tower base on top of the central Namsan Hill.
There, after buying our tickets waited around half an hour to get on top.

As a city, I liked Seoul very much, but I cannot say that for its panorama.
You have 360' views of endless high rise buildings stretching for miles. You cannot see any Temples as they're too low, parks are also invisible so you're going up waiting that lines and paying fees to see apartment and business high rise blocks. The only thing that stands out apart of them is the Han river meandering through.

We calculated to be there at sunset to see both, day and night views.
Day views are totally boring, while the night views were OK.

As the tower is already on the central Namsan hill you even don't have to climb the tower itself. You can take the one way cable car up, and then slowly descend down the hill. From many stops along the way are similar views as from the top.

The Seoul Tower, also called Namsan (nam = south, san = hill), or N. Seoul Tower, is situated in the center of Seoul, north of the Han River.

The price to take the cable up to the park was 11000 KRW one-way, and 14000 KRW return (April 2023 price). We took the cable car up (about 5 mins), and walked back down, which took about 30 mins negotiating all the steps.

The park offers a panoramic view of the city. Also there are some trails for hikers. Can easily spend a couple of hours wondering around.

To reach N Seoul tower, you can ride the Namsan Cable Car aerial tramway, take bus or walk the trails to the top through Namsan Park. Open approx 10.30am - 10pm and costs 16,000 KW. You can take the cable car from Myeong-dong Station; the ride takes a few minutes and costs 11,000 KRW for a one-way ticket or 14,000 return. You can also take the bus.
Wait until you’re at the top to decide if you go up the tower - it can be quite hazy and you won’t see much more from up there. The tower itself is 16,000 per adult.
N Burger is on the level the ticket booth is on and does a great burger.

Worth a visit for the view, but the queues are a nightmare.
Cable car to top is slow and the tower wait is long

The tower does offer a beautiful view, the price for an adult is 16k, so not the worst in Seoul. It is a long enough trek up to the tower but you can go up via cable car (16k).
The area around the tower offers beautiful views as well with all the love locks on the railings if you don't want to go up to tower itself.
It can take a while to go up and back down as there was only one lift.
