About
The Trickeye Museum is "one of a kind" painting gallery, which combines art with hi-end technology - so-called AR (Augmented Reality) effect and 2D/3D illusions. Instead of merely viewing paintings (as in a typical art gallery), visitors can interact with the paintings using newly developed Trickeye Camera application to make pictures alive in order to be a part of the artwork and record it on video or make a picture. Moreover, there is the Ice Museum located in the Trickeye Museum, items in which are fully made out of ice such as iced TV, ice kitchen, ice slope etc. With one admission ticket you can enjoy both "Trickeye Museum" and "Ice Museum". To ensure that even its busiest customers have time to enjoy the fun, the museum stays open each day all around the year from 9 AM until 9 PM (last admission by 8 PM), making it a popular date and hang-out place. Outside of the main exhibition hall there is museum café, which exclusively serves Latte with Your picture from the phone on it.

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Hongdae
Carefree enthusiasm is everywhere in this energetic neighborhood centered on Hongik University, Korea’s top art school. From its assortment of murals to the occasional amateur street performances, creativity and expression make up the wild and beating heart of vibrant Hongdae. At the Free and Hope Market (weekends at the Hongdae Children’s Playground) you'll find one of Seoul’s most popular handmade and creative markets drawing consistent crowds. At Hongdae, there’s never a shortage of things to do and see; food and drink options are nearly endless as are shops and noraebang (karaoke) rooms. Hongdae is also one of Seoul’s top party and club scenes catering to a younger demographic; if a packed club isn’t your scene, you'll also find a range of music venues and bars offering live music in all genres. Although Hongdae has lost much of its unique appeal and undergone rapid commercialization in recent years, be sure to explore Hongdae’s edges in areas such as Sangsu-dong and Yeonnam-dong where Hongdae’s fiercely independent streak still runs freely.

If you wanted an example of a quintessential tourist trap, it would be this place. Everything is run down and begging to be replaced, leaving it looking dated and ugly. Tickets are way overpriced. The app is a total gimmick. The advertised features like selfie latte were nowhere to be found; in fact barely anyone is there. If you enjoy wasting money and time then spend half and hour here (about how long it will take for you to see everything)

Excited to go here. We took the 40 minute journey to get here and walked up and down the streets looking for the museum. Finally, we have someone at the love museum about it and they said that it had been closed down during Covid. Wish these things were updated better.

If you need a break from the “normal” tourist spots this is a great place. Great opportunity to get some exciting and fun pictures. It’s also a great place to escape the cold, heat, or rain.

You have to download the Art XR Museum app to fully enjoy your experience.

I paid 14000₩ for the combo ticket to the Trick Eye and Love Museums. They are located in the same building. If you have younger kids, you might want to skip the love museum.

We traveled using public transportation; I did not notice any close by parking. Good luck and have fun!

Unforgettable experience! Museum located in unexpected area of Hongik Uni. Before entering u download an app in which U make photo or video. Better video because it will provide u with amazing special effects like in fantasy movies. Every corner of the museum has its own thematic venue. Kids shall be definitely happy. There is also an ice museum with ice sculptures but it’s too tight. Better come early in the morning as it will be crowded and u need a time and space to make quality videos. Better leave clothes and unnecessary stuff in locker box. 100% recommended even if u don’t like boring museums. It is more than museum, it is an adventure.

We had such a great time here. There is an App you download when you go in which brings the place to life. We had so much fun taking videos and pictures and there is even an opportunity to get your portrait done as an oil painting, which was a great keepsake to take home. A great tip for couples, take a tripod so you can get shots of both of you!

This place is a lot of fun! I was traveling alone so I got a guide to accompany me so I could get some great photos. They have an app that works with some of the exhibits to get you some really cool videos and photos.

The ice museum on the side is not really worth a visit, especially if you have seen ice sculptures elsewhere. Little kids would love it though.
The Trick Eye concept is very clever - though sharing your photos with them might be risky. It is only 12000w entry, and a nice diversion from the shopping. Worthwhile even without teenagers. Future museums will all have this special effects capability. Clever

I visited this attraction with my wife and teenage daughters. I would not call it a museum but rather, an attraction. I am in my early 50s and don't have an intuitive understanding of how to manipulate the VR to maximum effect. My daughter, on the other hand, is masterful. Without her I would have been lost.

The attraction is a series of rooms that you can take still pictures or videos. Some of the scenes require a few people in them. In many, your head is superimposed on the scene and in others, there is a lot of movement using VR. It's all quite clever but all i really need is one or two rooms, as opposed to many.

If you have someone in your party to show you how to do things and you get into the mood, it can be fun.

The ticket also includes a ridiculous ice museum that is really not worth visiting.

It’s about 5 mins walk from Hongik University stop exit 9, a bit difficult to find the building name as it isn’t clearly visible and my Google maps hung up on me !

Coming to the place , it’s quite fun if you like taking pictures , it’s not that big , but bigger than few others I have seen in Europe . Ice museum is not bad either.

I visited at 9:30 on a Saturday morning g and there was literally nobody in the museum , may be it’s the lunar new year or I was lucky ! As I was alone , I couldn’t get any picture of myself ! Nevertheless it’s fun
