Nice museum! It might be the Egyptian standard to maintain in such standards. Be aware of the tour guides near the entrance! They took the tourists for granted and arguing with you for business. We have visited today as a family of four. There was a older guide with heavy local accent to speak English; we decided for the other... More

We went there in June 2012. Around the complex we found the cordon of army, a museum and access was furter secured with barbed wire, because of the political situation in the country. We got headphones on where we could hear the guide and clearly we made clear that photography was strictly prohibited inside the museum. On the top of... More

Visited the museum after a visit to the pyramids. Would have appreciated air conditioning that was the only fault. The museum was a great insight into the history of Egypt. A definite must to visit when your in Cairo.

You mean (الجمعية الجغرافية المصرية) "Egyptian Geographical Society" or EGS????. Its Museum is called the "Ethnographic Museum of EGS". It's located inside the Shoura Council complex on the other side of Tahrir square across from Egyptian Museum at Qasr elAini Str. It's almost unknown and inaccessible to most people and I've never seen tourists there... not even foreign academics although... More
