A great place to visit, south of Cairo but easy to do when also visiting Saqqara and Memphis. Here you can see the bent pyramid and also go into the red pyramid and see from the inside how the tunnels into the crypts were made...More

Dahshur is about an hour’s drive from Cairo which needs to be visited prior going to Giza to get a better understanding of the pyramids evolution between the bent pyramid and the red pyramid. The bent pyramid has an unique bent structure with a smooth...More

Dahshur is further from Cairo than Saqqara, so there are correspondingly fewer tourists there. In fact, I was the only one at the bent pyramid. The Red Pyramid is also at Dahshur and the sight of it in the desert, alone makes the trip worthwhile....More

I prefer Dahshur to the Pyramids of Giza due to its exclusivity and simplicity. You can stop at MEMPHIS on the way as well.

The quite unfrequented site at Dahshur is dominated by a pyramid so large that a photograph from the parking lot had to be so wide-angle as to distort its shape completely. You can, by paying small tips along the way, climb up into and then...More

We visited Dashur with our tour guide and learned that the building of this oldest pyramid went wrong (as you can see) and was never used as burrial place. I recommend visiting Djoser pyramid, Memphis museum and old sakkara during the same daytrip south of...More
