Quit area full ofnspirit religion and peace . like every thing buildings prayer peace food . it peaceful place to visit and learn about optic Christian life in Egypt. I will return again to that place.

So serene. Wonderful to see. Our guide had been a monk for 21 years and was so vibrant and interesting- an easy drive from Alexandria en route to Cairo

we spent an amzaing weekend at elhammra ecolodge, its a nice city escape at wadi el naturon just 10 minutes off alex-cairo desert road. we wanted to surprise a friend on his birthday and it really worked well, it was very sunny, warm day long and cold at night but we were ready. also we had the littel puppy with... Wadi Natrum about 75 km away from Cairo on the Desert Road to Alexandria houses still four Coptic monasteries of the 40 or so which used to be there. A great valley with many monasteries and churches...you can see the old architecture and in some monasteries there you can read the stories of the Saints...

To see part of Egyptian Coptic history, and to have complex knowledge on Egyptian history, you should visit monasteries in Wadi Natroun, approximately 1 hour north from Cairo. it's a beautiful place right outside Cairo, enjoy the lovely architecture there and can have a nice walk and sit by the water there, worth the ride :)

We are Orthodox people. It is a loooooooooong distance between our country and Wadi al-Natrun, but we came there, during the Holy Week of the Easter, with respect and curiosity for the old Coptic religion, it was a very special trip, long-awaited. But according to Tawadros, the new religious philosophy is: “When I get in, you get OUT”. Since when?!?!?!?... More
