Not much to Memphis and only if you have time. It is an outside museum. The museum is the only thing to see in the village with the same name. It is sad to see Memphis, the former capital of ancient Egypt has degraded to this unkempt village with mounds of trash in various locations. It is located on the... More

Even to drive is a little bit sad due to the dirty and pollution, the museum entrance with a garbage deposit beside, when you are in you forget all and get impressed by the what you see!!!

It is located on the road between Saqqara and Cairo with appropriate signages installed along the road. It is... More

Basically this is the building which houses the Ramesses II statue and is located on Memphis Historical Site. A Photo stop which can be missed as you will be done with the place in 5 minutes and Egypt has much more to offer.

This was a great stop after visiting the Pyramids, we loved seeing Ramses II and then walking around the grounds.

Memphis, which means "beautiful city", was our first stop south of Cairo on that day when we saw the Giza Pyramids, Zoser's step pyramid in Saqqara, and the statues in the Memphis Museum. All of these sights were doable in 1 day. We were on a tour with Uniworld who took care of all travel details and guide. Driving for... More
