Not much to see to be quite honest. I get why it's important but was not what I would consider to be a tourist attraction. You can barely see the dam itself and there's restricted access beyond a certain point. A lowlight on our trip,...More

Aswan High Dam was built in the 1960’s to provide much-needed electricity and irrigation for the area round Aswan and greater Egypt. The Aswan Dam on the Nile River stops the largest river in the world, creating a huge reservoir (Man-made lake) , Lake Nasser....More

After seeing many many ancient attractions (temples, mausoleums, museums, etc,) It was a refreshing change to see a modern marvel. Lake Nasser is a pretty sight and the friendship monument is impressive.

As my title says it’s all . We rode 30 min in the tour bus to visit the high dam but it has no significance . It’s more so of value to the Egyptians since the damn has been built it provides water to entries...More

It is nice to see how it looks, but honestly, if you have a busy schedule, just skip the dam visit. If you are really into dams, note that you can only see the outside, and not the inside with the turbines which i think...More

An interesting stop with info boards showing how the dam was built and where the Nile starts from and it's course. There is an interesting temple nearby and you can see the hydro electric power station.

When you visit the High Dam, you stand in the top and look one direction to see Lake Nasser and the other down the Nile River Valley. Other than those 2 views, there's a handful of billboards explaining the dam's history and construction but nothing...More

It is not a tourist place but, it is a modern monument to visit. This dam was built to better control the flow of the Nile River. This dam caused the creation of a large artificial Lake "Lac Naceur" with an area of 500 m²,...More

For the everyday person, nothing worth seeing here. I understand it’s important for them and you can see how it’s changed the geography but easier to google a couple pictures. Not worth the trip.

Ok its a bit boring because its just a dam but if you consider the fact that Eqypt and Sudan are basically a desert this lake and this river are so important. As you travel the Nile you will see that there is only a...More
