This is worth a visit to get a better idea on how they used to create these giant obelisks. The climb up is only for sure-footed folks.

I didn't know exactly what to expect from our visit to this site - but I was really impressed after seeing how the Ancient Egyptians cut the stone blocks out, and even how obelisks were formed back in the day - then to hear about the ingenuity behind using the flooding of the nile to later move the stones! Amazing!

I think it is good to learn about obelisks and how they were made, but seeing the unfinished obelisk is not necessary when you have the High dam, philae temple, Nubian village, and the beautiful Nile in Aswan.

Having seen Egyptian obelisks all over the world, this is a chance to see on that is unfinished and remains in its place showing how it was carved out of the rock. It still bears the markings from the tools used to carve it. If finished this obelisk would have been much larger than any known obelisk today, standing at... More

The unfinished obelisk is just that - a large slab of stone hewn out in a quarry setting. There are walkways and wooden staircases to lead you around the site, which kids might quite enjoy, but is otherwise relatively unexciting. The obelisk itself is large and interesting but the whole experience will not take you more than an hour to... More

Don't skip the Video of how the ancient Egyptians actually erected such huge obelisks before venturing out to the Quarry and having a look at this unfinished Obelisk.

As part of our tour, we were taken to the Unfinished Obelisk. Otherwise I may have skipped it, as it didn't sound too interesting. But I changed my opinion after visiting. Definitely worth a visit

We had a 20 minute video on the Obelisk which was very helpful. We than as a group went to see this for ourselves there was a little walking track to following than we ended up at some little markets. Yes, very enjoyable and interesting.

An excellent chance to view the quarry works of the Old, Middle and New Kingdoms, with a 1200 cracked obelisk still almost worked out.Down side here is a gauntlet of sellers to get out, many of whom are very aggressive.
