An island on the Nile given to Lord Kitchener which has become a paradise, housing a collection of tropical plants and a has botanical museum. Visit by boat and see amazing views of the Nile and desert beyond.

Wonderful, lush, colourful botanic gardens. A delight to walk through. Many locals out for the afternoon. Few tourists. Quite unexpected. A walk from one end of the island to the other takes about 20 minutes but you will want to linger longer.

We took a motor boat over, ride was about 15 minutes. Gardens were beautiful. The place to go to relax and take in the nature.

Take a boat to Kitchener's island and stroll through the gardens, nicely layed out with good paths and lots of benches for relaxing. Nice views across the Nile too Say hi to the kids selling trinkets and maybe buy something...
