    Shopping, tea and good conversation
Shopping in this fixed price shop on the West Bank.of the Nile is a lovely experience. Owner Khaled makes everyone who visits feel relaxed and welcome. There is a quality selection of items ranging from clothing to alabaster and everting in between. Prices are fair and you will always leave with a gift. We liked our first visit so much thst we took a ferry from the east Bank with a couple of travel companions a few days later. Our friends were delighted to experience hassle free shopping. Khaled served us all tea and played guitar while we happily browsed.

Wonderfull selection of products and heartwarming experience
I can not even begin to describe how wonderful our experience at this shop was. More or less by accident we stumbled across this shop when we took a short cut to our hotel. We fell in love, not only with all the beautiful things that were for sale here (lots of vintage!) but mostly with the owner, who was so genuine and warm. It is incredible how it feels almost as if you can make a true friend in just one day. Khaled really touched our hearts. We feel that not only did we leave with some of the most gorgeous products , but with some very beautiful lifelessons as well.

A real treasure trove cave with fair prices
Hands down this is the best shop we visited in Egypt. There are very good quality items, made by artisans in Egyptian cotton, alabaster (the real one not the Crystal one), traditional ceramics. On top of the quality stuff there is also a plethora of souvenirs to choose from. Each item is priced (fairly). The owner has a very relaxed approach and puts no pressure on selling, he is available if you have any question on the material and on the provenance of the artefacts, explaining why the difference in price. The owner design some of the alabaster and cotton collections himself, with my husband being a designer they talked at length about colours, materials and production, many people in Egypt are being exploited (especially in the Alabaster production). There is the need of a fairer system around the production of traditional products, with Chinese tat now swamping the souks. We got some beautiful cotton blankets that we saw in high end boutiques in Cairo for triple the price. Would totally go back and recommend to all this wonderful shop.

A hidden gem near the Nile
A hidden gem full of treasures from local artisans and all over Egypt. Khaled is a wonderful host, always happy to share information about art and culture with you, and at the same time gives you all the time in the world to browse and enjoy the shop. The terrace of his shop is a peaceful retreat and meeting place for guests from all over the world to enjoy a cup of tea, good company, and even a music jam if you're lucky!

Perhaps the Only Hassle-Free, Fixed-Price Shop in Luxor!
After a couple weeks of being pushed to purchase things by street vendors, it was a relief to enter Shop Sandouk and not be hassled to buy things and not have to negotiate for a final price. We bought a bunch of nice souvenirs here and were treated with a friendly yet hands-off approach. Great selection and fair prices.

    Great shop in Luxor
Beautiful little shop with all variety of artisan crafts and vintage souvenirs. Every item has a story and owner Khaled has a passion for sharing them if it’s in your interest. Without realising we spent like an hour browsing and chatting. We were offered complimentary tea and even jammed on his shop instruments. The prices are fair and hassle free which makes this a very special shop in Egypt. We were very happy with our purchases and the fun time spent.

I visited Luxor in May 2023 and my friend advised me to visit Sandouk shop, I enjoyed it in this shop with a wide variety of products plus the owner (Khalid) is honest and gives a good price and he didn't cheat us with a bad product.

This shop is recommended in the Baedeker and it was so much worth the visit. Only local products at fixed and fair prices, not the China crap and the aggressive sellers and ridicoulus prices from the tourist sites.
We bought some incense, brass ware, cloth and a mirror there. Great choice of all kinds of local products, a cup of tea and a nice chat await you here. They also have an online shop if you want to take a look first. But I totally recommend to make a stop at the end of a West Bank visit.

Had a very weird experience here. While Khaled was very kind to my girlfriend and her cousin, he acted very rude to me and seemed to want to mock me in front of them.

I was very surprised by this as my girlfriend and her cousin already went to Shop Sandouk earlier and told that Khaled is so relaxed and kind, so I went with a big smile and when we came in there was a warm greeting and some nice banter, I really liked him.

Later when I sat down his tone changed completely, when speaking he went to sit in front of me in silence and stared at me for 10-15 seconds straight ( a few times) and spoke to me in a very direct and degrading way, while they were sitting next to me. He asked me a few times very directly what my view on life was, to immediately mock it and stating things that I really didn't (mean to) say.

After the visit I heard that he invited my gf's cousin to join him for a private ride in the evening into the desert (which he asked after he took her on his motor cycle ride to find a product that wasn't there ...).

Perhaps because I came later and he already gained their trust, I was an unwelcome guest.

I don't mind at all the strategy of a good sales man, Khaled's a very emotionally intelligent man who knows how to make especially women feel very comfortable to provide them a space where there is no harassment with okay-ish set prices - and sells a lot of stuff. Fair game, as someone who studied Psychology I even admire it.

But this behaviour makes you wonder what his intentions were here, just be cautious here as a man, but especially as a woman - you are still a foreigner in a touristic place in Egypt. I have never written a negative review in 5 years of travelling, so this experience was quite unique.

(If Khaled has a different view he can write it in a comment and you can make up your own mind - as long as he doesn't lie about it. Just be cautious!).

It took me nearly a whole hour to remember, it was about two months ago,,, Here is your girlfriend review on the same Google account; Kirstyn Liang ☆☆☆☆☆ Possibly the best shopping experience I've ever had - we were greeted with cold brewed hibiscus tea, classical music and calming incense smells. The warm owner Khaled gave us the space to browse and enjoy the trinkets and fabrics at our own pace, adding additional information about the origins of the items that piqued our interest. I never felt any pressure to buy anything or make a quick decision. We even had mint tea while watching the sunset on the porch while I decided between scarves! Prices were clearly marked, super fair and everything was great quality and mostly hand made. 100% recommend! Khaled is a real gem :). -----------------------------And her cousin's review Sophie Wong-on-Wing ☆☆☆☆☆ We had the most wonderful experience at Khaled’s shop. When we arrived, we had to phone him since he was running an errand. He came back within a minute on his bike to open up the shop for us. As we were browsing, he made us tea and told us about the different items in his shop in a way that felt more like a history lesson. There was a wonderful selection of handmade scarves, pottery, and other artifacts and collectibles. He was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. He later invited us to take a break from browsing and have more tea. Before we knew it, the sun was setting and we were asking him questions about Egypt. I completely forgot one of my bags when we left, and about a block later, he drove up to us on his scooter with the bag! Truly a hidden gem for a genuine local experience. 10/10 would recommend! ____________________ And I am remembering you now clearly,, Yes, you began asking me how I became the person I am. Our conversation didn't last for two minutes and you said you feel offended then I kept quiet not talking with you neither with eye contact, in spite of staying for more than two hours after sitting on the terrace trying to chat with other guests.[You bought Nothing at all and your girlfriend and her cousin bought really alot of things so you don't know if it is okey-ish or not] Earlier when I took the cousin of your girlfriend to buy her notebooks and then she asked to buy some spices and hibiscus, I did for the actual cost price then your girlfriend took some as well, it was a favor. I told the girl if she has some time evening I would show her the village and the desert and she agreed, then while you were leaving I told her I may be too busy to go. That's because of your psycho attitude towards me. Briefly, I see you have a blocked Google account with 3 reviews only, including the long negative one you wrote about me. 5 last years of no negative reviews is a big lie and I sent you already a request to read the other two reviews you did, hopefully you have any normal thing to share. It is not my problem that your girlfriend and her cousin talked alot about me to you at the time you have self trust issues,, And I ask you to show your review and my comment to your girlfriend and her cousin. I already reported your review as hatred and claim. May you find peace. Edit for your Edit: I asked you to show your girlfriend and her cousin your review and my comment, and I mean it. They are free to revise their reviews. Still I remember that they are normal people with real sence of reason. Asking peace and mercy for you

A little hidden away is this amazing shop with great souvenirs. The prices are fixed on a very reasonable price. It was great to shop without the hassle of all other shops in Egypt. He made it very transparent wat the different qualities were. It was our best experience while travelling in Egypt. I bought some very beautiful scarfs and other small gifts. The owner is very nice and gave us some hibiscus tea and some medicine for our colds. Would recommend everybody to come and shop here!
