About
The Karnak Sound and Light Show highlights the dramatic history of ancient Thebes. The show narrates the achievements of some great Pharaohs, with poetic descriptions of the ancient treasures. As visitors walk through the complex, the pharaohs arise to tell the story of their interesting lives, as haunting music mysteriously flows through this ancient city. Ancient and poetic voices tell the visitors about the birth of Karnak temple and the heroic achievements of the pharaohs and the god Amun. It is an enchanting and supernatural experience to listen to sound effects and gaze at the magnificent ruins illuminated during the well-presented show.

Disappointing light show which is outdated. With present techniques there is so much more possible but they have never modernized this show. Maybe 30 years ago it was acceptable but not present day. Sometimes it is not clear where they want you to look at, also because of there were too many people. The narrative is often too difficult to follow because of difficult words used and even my English is not that bad. Considering that most tourists are not native English speakers I guess that many of them have no clue what is it about. The projected images on the buildings were hard to see from a distance and all three of us lost our interest during the show even we are intreagued by the Egyptian history. Waste of money and unless they will update the light show I wouldn't recommend at all to pay for the quite expensive tickets. Better go at daytime to enjoy the temples in full beauty in daylight because the Karnak complex is worth it but the lightshow doesn't do justice to its grandeur. I regret so much I had no more time left to return to the Karnak temple at daytime.

This temple is awe inspiring, unfortunately, the Sound and Light Show is totally underwhelming. We paid £45 each and it was a total waste of money. Parts of the temple are highlighted with a commentary. It lasts for an hour and we walked and stood for about 45 minutes until we sat overlooking the water for the grand finale - which didn't happen! So disappointing! Take a torch, if you do go, the gound is very uneven.

Better than I expected. You walk through the ruins while lights and narrators go over the history. Very worthwhile just for the photos and the experience.

The temple is nice to see in the evening lights, but the show itself is very old fashioned. The soundtrack must be decades old and light technology from the 90’s. I would not recommend this.

My husband and I were here in 1985, and how majestic, awe inspiring and evocative an experience it was. Almost 40 years later... we brought our grown sons and an in-law, telling them to expect an astounding evening... NOPE!! what a huge disappointment! The ropes, the bundling up of people from point to point, the over extended period of audio at the amphitheatre, the weak and non- dramatic lighting, the lack of freedom of movement and almost non-informative in the ways we had hoped to see and hear.. are just the start of the failures of this long revered and much talked about experience. Just FORGET about going altogether. Download the audio if you must, stay at home for a beautiful evening in Luxor... and get up early to take it all in yourself during the day. The majesty, history, archeological splendour is totally lost during this so called show. It showed nothing and shared nothing.

You pay $20 for the show and it was not worth it. We left before it was over. It’s just narration that you can barely understand because quality of sound is so poor. And they light up some parts of the temple. But it’s not like they project a movie or anything. It’s so boring, not worth going until they invest more on it so it’s nicer

Very underwhelming and couldn’t see most of the temple. Some talking parts were indistinct and went on with meaningless drivel. The lighting was poor so hard to see many features. It much better to go in the morning and be able to see the full temple. Very expensive for what it was.
