There are 2 different paths you can take to climb this section of the great wall. The kinda hard side and the HARD side. I took the kinda hard side and it is a great experience, there is a gift shop when you get to the top (bonus!). The steps are very uneven and it was a winter day so... More

One of the reasons I took a tour of China, was to see the Great Wall. It was memorable and and worth it to climb. Our tour guide suggested we go to the left, the steeper route, and I'm glad he did. Several people in my tour group and I made it to No. 12 Fortress and it was an... More

Juyong Pass of the Great Wall is located in Changping district, Beijing. It is not very accessible by public transports. You can take the Changping line subway and transfer to buses. Juyong Pass is the steepest section among the entire Great Wall. It was tiring for us to climb up, as the steps are quite high in between. But when... More

Not the most visited part of the wall and with this good access. Very steep stairs up, difficult for children and quite sporty for adults. Very well rebuilt piece of the wall and great views

We got to the pass just before 8am as traffic in Beijing was better than expected and were lucky enough to be the first to arrive that day. It's not an easy climb, and there was still snow and ice on some parts, so take it slow and enjoy the views.

This place is INSANE! I workout but wow this place kicked our rear end! We had approximately 2 hours to make it to the top and back down, it was tough. But glad we made it. Totally worth it. A MUST in Beijing.

Really excited to arrive and grabbed an expensive coffee from the cafe and set off. The coffee was not a good idea. This stretch of the wall is very steep - burns the legs and lungs in no time. The steps seemed to range in depth from 20cm to 60cm - good, strong legs required to negotiate these. Arrived early... More

If you are pressed for time, this is the closest portion of the Wall to Beijing, less than an hour from downtown Beijing if you can beat the rush hour traffic. You can drive right to the entrance of the Wall by going to Gate 4. The washrooms outside the Gate 4 are better than the ones inside. If you... More

A bit disappointed as there was no cable car to go up, couldn't find a good point for photo. Should have go to Badaling or Mutianyu.
