China Millenium Monument - Nothing to see except some Expos downstairs!

Sometimes at night it get lit up, but usually around the Chinese Holidays. Mostly, it's just a dark gray structure with no real appeal. On a smoggy day, which is normally the case, you can't even see the monument when you walk past. Again, there are other more important things to see and do, this is not one of them.

Worth to visit only if there is any exposition to watch (we saw some Latin American cultural expos and French painting exhibition, too). Recommended for Beijingers or 2-3 year foreign residents only. We suggest to READ if there is any interesting event before going in order to not waste your time. This place is located next to China's Military Museum,... More

We went to the Military Museum and on our way we ran into the Millennium Monument. I do remember it was on TV. Originally built for, of course the Millennium Celebration, but like so many things here in Beijing, it has not been kept or preserved. It is now in a sorry condition and not cared for. Definitely not worth... More

It is close to the Military Museum and externally has the shape of a big sun clock. The interior hosts art exhibitions. My visit here unfortunately was not satisfactory. The exterior looks very unsuccessful in the daylight, whilst when you visit the art exhibitions you have the feeling that something is missing either from the way the art is displayed... More

We held or attended several events there. Short walk from the hotel. Well managed and modern. I lost a notebook and the cleaning staff went to extreme efforts to go through the collected rubbish in the auditorium to find it. I hugged the manager like an old friend. She saved four days' worth of extensive notes that I would have... More

Came across this as I cycled around Beijing, very odd shaped monument but a great view from the top, a lot of stairs to walk but well worth the effort for the view. I recommend it to see.

Saw this on our way to the China Military Museum and popped over for a nosey around. Big monument, fairly typical of the kind of thing that most countries did to the mark the millennium - but like so many things in China, much bigger! A permanent exhibition of statues is the reward for those making the climb - including... More

The monument itself is just ugly, but the museum on first floor(or basement, don't remember) sometimes has some really good exhibitions. You'd better check online first before going.

Not worth a visit, dull architecture, scorching hot in summer and freezing cold in summer.
