Twice in different years I tried to see this museum, and it was always partially closed for one reason or another. You can only see bored planes, tanks and a lot of propaganda.

Easy to find either by taxi or train, with station right at the entrance. If you are a military buff, this is the place for you. I would have rated 5 stars except they didn’t have the second floor open, for unknown reasons which was...More

I visited this museum with two Chinese hosts who were able to explain the notices to me. The building was enormous but only part of the ground and lower ground floors were open. Entrance is free but I needed to hand my passport over to...More

This is a free museum, but like most museums in China, bring your passport to show the ticket booth people. They will then hand over a free entry ticket. The building is huge and was only recently reopened after a major refurbishment. It’s worth a...More

Myself and my partner came to the museum to escape the cold in December, however it was a great find. Be sure to bring your passport, however unlike other attractions although the museum is massive, it was fairly quiet. Outside you were able to look...More

If you like to look at military equipment, then I guess this is the place for you. Almost no signage, and just displays of planes, tanks, boats, and guns without the story of the military goal seems pointless. There are some large reliefs in the...More

If you're a military buff then this is definitely the place for you. Only the main floor was open during our visit (we really wanted to see the upper level exhibits) but it's obviously a popular place - it was packed on a Sunday afternoon...More

Even if you are not a military or history buff, the Chinese Military Museum is absolutely worth visiting. To date (January 2018), only the ground floor and basement are open. However, the exhibition is state of the art, depicting a variety of military aircraft, naval...More

The museum in Beijing is now open. Everything looks like new refurbished and if you are not an ardent pacifist it could be a good place for a visit. Entry is free and the metro station is 50 m away. It is very unpolitical shown,...More

Sorry like the other answer. I did not notice a gift shop. But I’m guessing there will be one there as every other museum I’ve been to in Beijing has a gift shop. Also, not quite the same as an official gift shop but I... More
