This two-story arched wooden structure once held 25 drums which, in combination with bells in the Bell Tower, were once used to indicate the time of day. Only one drum remains today, which is beaten four times a day for 15 minutes.

After visiting the Great Wall and Forbidden City, this was disappointingly drab and not very restored. The stairs are either sloped or really steep (about 1.5 ft high) so if you don't have good knee, ankles, and hip flexors, this will we unpleasant. The view...More

The towers are worth visiting even from the ground, and very photogenic. Like so many buildings in China, it's hard to take a bad photo of them. After checking out the towers, I recommend heading either 1. East to the Nanluoguxiang neighbourhood, which is filled...More

There is no way you can miss this attraction if you are heading towards the Forbidden City through Tiananmen Square. It sure is beautiful but I always get the impression that most of the “Old” Beijing is, after all, brand new. Indeed, this tower which...More

Tower was closed when we were there. Walked around it eventually. Would have like to have gone inside.

The bell and drum towers are worth a visit. We also went to the tea tasting which though obviously aimed at tourists was enjoyable as long as you like tea which my wife doesn't so I got double rations.

Worth seeing from outside but view great. I listened to the drums from the bottom of the stairs which you have to pay for. You can't really hear them from further. The steps are amazingly steep!

There are a handful of western eateries, but, the signs are in Chinese and run by locals, so, you might not get ze correct taste. Personally, I wont even walk into the big M. Hope you find what you are looking for.
