It's a bit of "China-grandiose-achievement meet Disneyland". The interesting part The wall stretches up and down the hills with a mind blogging vantage positioning all along. That means to build over the steepest part and tops of the hills (your legs may feel shaky if you take a long tour). The downside It's all fake. Not a single stone is... More

Unlike other parts of the Great Wall, this one hardly had any tourists when we went in the morning hours. Otherwise it gets crowded in day time during peak tourist season. And then you will be disappointed to find the "Great Wall of People"! Its close to a small forested area which makes the place very beautiful.

We paid to go on a hike of the wall through Top China Travel. The tour guide was a lovely lady though her English was almost unintelligible! Everyone was just looking at each other trying to suppress their smiles. The wall is stunning but very steep - not for the faint hearted though it has a real wow factor! We... More

A perfect section of the wall to discover with kids! Although a little scary, the chairlift was great and the ride down on the slide was awesome with our 7 year old. He rode on a double sled with by husband on the way down. The wall was breathtaking...lots of towers to climb to and discover.

The facilities for visitors are really excellent. We went up in the cable car as too cold for the chair lift and too old to walk! It was foggy, with the fog drifting across in clouds and leaving glimpses of the wall here and there. Beautiful. Some parts are a bit narrow eg the towers, where everyone wants to clamber... More

The great wall of China is a marvelous structure which one must visit if in China. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Carry sufficient amount of water. Around 1.5hrs from Beijing. You can take a bus or a taxi (if 3-4 people)

Unlike pictures we've seen from the other section of the great wall, this rebuilt section had no crowds. A great way to do it is cable car up, and toboggan down. So much fun!

A must do tour while in Beijing! Excellent recommendation by delia beijing tours. We had two hours on the Great Wall instead of two hours in traffic.

The day we went to the Great Wall was snowing and poor visibility so we did not experience the vastness of the wall extending over the kilometers but it was nonetheless amazing to walk the steps in the fog and mist. It was ethereal and amazing.

My partner & I doubled up with my sister & her partner to take a tour guide/van option to the Great Wall of China. The tour guide's advice for Westerners is to visit this section to avoid large Chinese crowds who prefer Badaling due to an historical visit by someone in history. I really appreciated this tip because Mutianya did... More
