I've passed the Cathedral many times but took occasion to visit today. It is a building, built to the glory of God, that built in 1905 withstood the Cultural Revolution and is still in place today as a place of worship. The interior is simple. It's well worth a visit - stroll around and find some peace from the outside... More

Located on Wangfujing shopping street this functioning Catholic Church is one of the oldest in China. Worth popping in for a respectful view if you're in the area. Architecturally fairly impressive and the area is generally quieter than the nearby shopping area, making a nice respite.

Located on Wanfujing Street, this Catholic church was originally built in 1655 during the early Ming dynasty. This church is now one of the impressive buildings in Beijing's modern city centre and is a nice place to visit. Masses are held in Mandarin.

In the middle of Beijing, all of a sudden there is this nice little church that definitely reminded of home. We chanced upon a mass, the language was mandarin but it was nice still. Some street artists also gathered there. An old man who does calligraphy on the ground with water was also there. It was a nice area to... More

We must’ve been to Wangfujing on more than 10 occasions. However on this latest trip, it was Spring Festival time and there was hardly anybody on the streets. I think because of this reason, we were able to notice more things than if it was crowded. We were walking and then there it was. The church is such a nice... More

We accidentally stumbled upon this Christian edifice which seemed so out of place, at least in the stereotype images we had of Communist China. It is still a living place of worship although it was not open when we happened by. Makes a great photo.

This place is great - for a busy shopping street, the cathedral is very big but when you go inside, you realise how small it is. I came at 7am on a sunday and it's full for a service and the church still retains very much of its charm. 90 years old but still modern. Great.

The church is so lovely, small but nice with a mesmerizing exterior design. Unfortunately the church looks outdated and needs true care, while teenagers spend their time playing with their skateboards or break-dancing in the yard which I found against the holiness of the church. In the night it is illuminated and looks even better.

We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria and St. Joseph’s cathedral is right around the corner at the end of the famous Wangfujing Street. The church has a nice courtyard with a beautiful statue of St. Joseph holding baby Jesus and it appeared the courtyard was popular amongst young kids skateboarding, etc. The church itself is very nice and open with... The St. Joseph's Church aka WangFuJing East Church is right next to the WangFuJing Street. It is a good spot to stop by after visiting the WangFuJing street. The exterior is highly decorated. When visits at night, many middle age couples come for group dance at the mini plaza in the front. I didn't get to check out the interior.... More
