Huge crowds with long lines to get in. Uneven surface and very noisy. Needs repair and better signage in English.

The Meridian Gate, Wu Men is the southern gate and the only entrance now to the Forbidden City. This is the largest and most imposing gate to the Forbidden City with five towers and five doors. The central doorway was for the exclusive use of the Emperor. Ordinary people were forbidden to enter any of the doors.

This is a really cool place to visit and see how big the whole forbidden city is. Lots of bad things happened here, so much history.

After you pass the plain gate inside is very nice to walk around and stroll seeing everything takes a good 1/2 day or whole day. Lots of pictures to take

An impressive entrance to the start of your visit to the Forbidden City from Tian'an Men Square. Leads onto another 'square' where you'll find bathroom 'facilities'...

Nice gate and colourful temple. Typical of China. Will not take long to visit and will get you familiarized with Chinese art and structures

It´s the entrance to the forbidden city with a picture of Mao, a place that every chinese wants to go at least once. Quite impressive seen from the Tian´an Men square and when passing through by car, more so when entering the forbidden city.

The is the entrance gate if you are not coming from the main site from Tiananmen Square. You would not have missed much though even if you enter through this gate. The gate gives you a feel of how majestic the ancient architecture and a sense of the secrecy of the live behind the red walls.
