Architecturally ultra-modern and cool with its eye catching silver oval exterior, The NCPA is located in the heart of old Beijing, close to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. It houses an opera house, a concert hall and two theatres. Surrounded by an artificial lake, green lawns and gardens, it is an island in the middle of a lake. There... More

If you like modern architecture, this building should be on the top of your list when visiting Beijing, even if you just go around outside.

the beautiful and stunning architecture of the place. The views of the place are both stunning inside and out. I visited around 5pm and the sun was setting, so the light hit the building very nicely.

Apart from the sheer splendour of the architecture, outside and in, the NCPA offers an extrordinarily rich programme of events. For example, last night one could choose between a symphony orchestra, Chinese adaptations of Hamlet and the opera Turandot, traditional Chinese opera, Swan Lake by a visiting Latvian company) and a wonderful Chinese zither concert. If you go for a... More

First off, as everyone else mentions, the outside architecture is pretty amazing. It's definitely worth the view and is right in the middle of all the downtown touristy things to see. You can't miss it, if you are in the Forbidden City area. You can walk up to the building and get your obligatory selfie, as well as walk inside.... More

This titanium and glass encased gigantic egg-shaped theatre, which officially opened in December 2007, houses some of the world’s leading performances. The opera we saw last week was outstanding. The National Centre for the Performing Arts approximate 12,000-square-metre building has aggregate seating for 5,452. It is comprised of three performance halls, being: an opera hall seating 2,416; a music hall... More

We only had half day to spare, and no suitable shows /opera available during our short visit in Beijing. The architecture was amazing, we walked though the exhibition, very interesting, defiantly will try spend more time next time if we back to Beijing in the future.
