This is another old area that is refurbished and converted into a commercial area.

The area is build on a hill so come prepared to walk and to climb steps.

The only road in CQ without skyscapers
Jul 2019
If you are tired of skyscrapers and high buildings, you should definitely go to Ciqikou lu! They say it is the old town but actually they rebuilt this area where the old town was. If you are looking for souvenirs or typical products, you must go here! You will see a lot of small shops, where they sell pepper, soap, tea and so on, but watch out fake items!!

Ancient town
Dec 2019 • Couples
We enjoyed spending half a day here. There was a lot to see and do. There are a lot of shops selling the same kinds of things - mostly spices and small souvenirs. We went to see a Sichuan opera show which we really enjoyed. There were also a lot of good snacks to try here. We enjoyed looking at some of the porcelain. We also really enjoyed looking around the temple. Make sure to go down some of the side streets which are much quieter and less commercial so you can get a real feel for the place.

Busy and interesting ancient town
Jan 2020 • Couples
We visited before lunch in a Saturday - it was already busy. This ancient town ha the usual range of shops all selling the same things with some interesting Chongqing snacks and porcelain. It is definitely worth a visit while you’re in Chongqing.

Back in time

Ciqikou is an old town which has now turned into a tourist spot. The street is full of shops lining at both sides selling all sorts of things from handicraft, souvenir, food to ear cleaning service. You can actually spend a whole day here if you are looking for things to shop. Just stop at each shop and savor the goodies sample, drink tea at some tea houses, pamper your ear by allowing the expert to clean it for you. Highly recommended for shoppers alike.

Former ancient town restored
Jul 2019
The restoration of this ancient town is very good, and left me with that ancient town feeling. As in the past, it continues to be famous for the production of porcelain pieces.

fun, very similar to one in chengdu but smaller
Nov 2019
This is a fun place for kids, we sat down for a show and tea time. It was loving to see upclose the changing face. Please be aware to ask for seating charges before you seat down. The seats are priced differently. To be honest, the show area is small, no matter where you seat, you will see it well.

Balmy afternoon in the porcelain city
Sep 2019
On a summer's afternoon a few months ago we decided to take the bus from Jiefangbei to Ciqikou. After about an hour's ride we arrived at the gates of the porcelain city. We immediately walked through the city to the river's edge where we took in the ancient port. We then moved back towards the gate and started our sightseeing Many stalls and shops sell traditional Chongqing fare such as MaHua twisted cookies, grilled lamb sticks and candied Hawthorne fruit. We bought beautiful porcelain souvenirs and wonderful tea. To end our day we found a small courtyard hidden away against the river with a small bar serving drinks where we enjoyed a cold beer on a bench. Lovely little tourist area, make sure to explore the back alleys for bars and coffee shops.

Intriguing old town
Nov 2019
We loved wandering through the narrow lanes and alley ways of this old pottery port. The buildings were beautiful with the little shops below the living quarters upstairs. Although it became crowded with locals and tourists, we were still able to enjoy the charm and ambiance of this place, perusing the intriguing shops showcasing old and new trade. Definitely stray away from the main lane! The foods were particularly interesting, pigs hooves and rabbit heads for example. Well worth a visit if you are in Chongqing.
